The room was not clean and the breakfast was an definitely an disappointment. Very unhygienic

Reviewed 5 september, 2021

The rooms bed was clean, but there is carpet in the rooms entrance and living room. And was dirty and smelly. The bathroom appeared clean at first… the the breakfast was 2/10, the floor was were sticky and you needed to take all food with your hands, instead to have an fork or an tool to take the food with. And who serves toast bread without having an toaster 😂🤗

Great staff, good hotel if you are a smoker

Reviewed 24 august, 2021

Our initial room on arrival smelt strongly of cigarette smoke and on reporting it to reception we were swiftly changed to another. The staff told us that we should report any obvious signs of smoking activity in any rooms as it was most definately not allowed. Unfortunately throughout our 7 night stay, the first floor corridor and also our room smelt of smoke even though there is a no-smoking policy. It seems that the smoke somehow gets in through the bathroom ventiliation system. The staff are obviously facing an uphill struggle hill to deal with this problem. The hotel is tired and in need of an upgrade, however it is clean and good value. It is probably fine if you are a smoker, but if you are not, then avoid. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

A tired hotel in need of refurbishment

Campanile Hotels, wherever they happen to be located, are fairly standard - you know exactly what to expect, but I am sad to say that the budget hotel standards are no longer reflected in the prices charged. For the price I paid I have to say that I expect better than paper cups, thin plastic spoons and base standards. The paint work in my room desperately needed redoing, as in fact it did throughout the hotel with the exception of the reception area which was airy and light. The rest of the hotel is decorated in a shabby off-white colour with green doors; the walls and the doors alike are battered from countless suitcases bashing into them and gives an air of dreary tiredness. I found the staff all excellent and friendly, the standard of food in the restaurant very good and a willingness to help where possible. I booked a disabled room and was not given one; when I enquired why, I was told that the hotel does not have disabled rooms - I find this unacceptable in modern times. In all eventualities, I should have been told there are no disabled rooms at the time of booking, and I shall be taking this up with Campanile Benelux Head Office. All in all, I found this hotel to be OK, but no better than that; for the price paid, I was (and remain) disappointed with the standards on offer.

Two weeks of pleasentness

Dear All, This hotel is cheap, but very cheerful! I have spent eight days in there, very comfortable large spacious rooms. Very powerful shower! Food is good, breakfast is good, little bit pricy at €12. Mostly a cold buffet, but eggs, pancakes and bacon are offered hot! Evening meals are excellent, flavourful and well presented. The staff are friendly and always pleasant, all speak excellent English and put up with my awful attempts at Dutch!

Basic but very comfortable and affordable

Reviewed 1 january, 2020

While visiting friends in Amersfoort I decided to stay here. It’s not too far from Amersfoort Schothorst train station and is easy enough to get there via bus. I had a friendly welcome and was checked in with ease. On first impressions the room was very clean but basic. After visiting my friends I used the bathroom and the shower was lovely. Very warm and extremely powerful! Despite the basic look the bed and pillows were immensely comfortable. I had a (mostly) great nights sleep for the entirety of the stay but my one small complaint would be the walls are very thin and I was woken a few times by noisy people returning/leaving the rooms despite being a heavy sleeper, so earplugs would probably be needed if you sleep light. What I can’t complain about though is the price. The last stay in Amersfoort was at a local four star hotel which was double the price and was less comfortable. This time visiting I paid for my flights, the hotel and still had money spare compared to just the price of the hotel before. I would definitely stay here again and will be when I return in the not too distant future.
