Robust no frills business hotel

The Novotel is a good hotel and like all hospitality venues was hobbled during my two stays there by the new COVID-19 rules. Unfortunately, its core services are limited and we were surprised that Room service was not extended later in light of restaurant early closure and there was not much innovation on that front. This being said, the breakfast is quite good and the restaurant and bar adequate even if the restaurant staff may need further training in hospitality restaurant customer service. All in all an acceptable level of quality in an averagely convenient location and good but very basic infrastructure and an effective reception team and events platform.

When we arrived there was no place in their parking facility. The spots are very small and there is a big chance of damage to your car. After we could park we were allowed to check in. We were with 1 other couple who had checked in online and us. This made no matter for the waiting time, more than 45 waiting time. Unfortunately, the bathroom of 1 of the rooms was not clean. Nice rooms with good beds. Dinner was in buffet form, unfortunately not much choice, replenished late and the food was not warm. Breakfast the next morning had an even longer waiting time, 52 minutes. Downright ridiculous. In addition, the containers with food were pale empty. The only thing that went smoothly was the check out. No more Novotel Amsterdam for us.

The hotel is fine 24 hours desk open very friendly staff very near to tram service No. 4 takes you directly to central station and to stop at Dam street you can see everything, regarding the room phone is terrible and room serves are bad my made cleans better 😎 I did’t like that they don’t have concierge , the breakfast it’s good they have a shop to take a coffee and some beverages very nice gesture and they have a Covid test center in the lobby Which is very good

Nobody at the All Accor preferred guest desk and two long queues at the standard check in desks...wrong start. We had to ask for someone to come and assist . No executive lounge available for frequent travelers!? The room was okay with a too soft mattress and a tiny bathroom. A pleasure to have a Nespresso coffee machine in order to enjoy a good expresso when leaving early morning. If you do not want to spend too much money in the restaurant for breakfast, they have a small shop with coffee and croissants to take away or eat on site, at a cheap price. In the lobby there are a few chairs and armchairs to unwind or work. Mid afternoon on Thursday, the hotel was almost empty but there were cups and glasses left on one table and the other table was dirty with several prints of glasses on top... A mixed overall experience, certainly not up to the international standards of a Novotel.

Second time at Novotel Amsterdam City. I do not easily give second chances but they deserved it : I had a minor issue the previous time, but I am pleased to report that they still have a good product, for tourists and business travellers alike. Their breakfast offering is just ever so slightly less rich than what it used to be, but it’s still clearly above competition. The location is evidently great, as is connectivity via public transport or road. Spacious rooms which are still well maintained (though there are some rooms which have been renovated as well). Finally, special reference to customer services worthy of a 5* hotel : my experience has been extremely positive, with management being reactive to any (reasonable) issues or inconveniences that may arise while customer services have been excellent, responsive and promptly punctual to modifications and refunds when these arose.
