Great for a long weekend with friends
Excellent value for money rooms were clean tidy and well prepared. Lovely proper Amsterdam style building with some lovely features stayed in small double room was small as stated but had everything we needed. Staff are lovely and very welcoming would definitely stay again and highly recommend. Only downside was it’s not easily accessible for people who struggle with stairs but other than that it’s a lovely hotel in a lovely part of town!
The staff let down the hotel!
The area in where the hotel is lovely. There are lots of quaint little shops and restaurants and its close enough to the main square, about a 10/15 minute walk. The hotel has potential it’s just needs a lot of upgrading and a freshen up. The stairs to get to the rooms are really steep so not advised for anyone that would have difficulties with that. The staff however let down the hotel. On arrival we were met by a lady in the restaurant (also hotel reception although this is not clear or stated anywhere). She asked if we would like to check in, to which we said yes. We were then told, abruptly, that we couldn’t until 3pm but we could leave our bags. She showed us to the ‘secure’ luggage area, which was a shelf to the side of the restaurant with a rope from side to side which the bags were to be padlocked onto. We were told to remove all valuables before leaving. The shelf was situated on the way to the restaurant toilets, so anyone using the bathroom could easily access the bags. Check in was very unorganised. We had to wait in a queue at the restaurant bar to check in then we had to sit in the busy restaurant for the staff who were serving meals In the restaurant to become available to show us to our room. They really need to have a member of staff who is dedicated to looking after guests checking in. We got to the room, which was okay. It was quite small and looked onto another buildings window, which we discovered was a bathroom window as we could see people showering very clearly. On the second night I was getting changed when the room door opened. One of the staff members was showing guests to their room, got mixed up and entered our room to my horror as I was not fully clothed. He muttered something and hurried away. As we had reservations that night we didn’t have time to complain about this. Later that night we returned to the hotel to find our key was no longer working. Luckily we managed to catch the restaurant before it closed. We explained to the guy what had happened earlier and he though that our card had been cancelled in the mix up. If we had arrived back any later the restaurant would have been closed and we could have been locked out all night. I think the staff need better training and the hotel needs to have better organisation for guests checking in.
Super Staff
We stored our bags. Explored the city after the wonderful lady helping us with directions. When we returned, we learned that I had cancelled the reservation ... we were at the WRONG hotel. They were so very nice and helpful. Service is everything.
Hidden gem
Looked for something a bit different and found This lovely little place. Situated about 10 mins walk west from the station. Room as large, airy and clean. Staff were helpful and let us keep bags there while were looked about. There is a bar/restaurant down stairs and the beer/food was very nice. Would recommend this if you are looking for something different than your normal hotel.
Great Staff and Location!
Staff extremely nice and helpful. Location of the Hotel is around the corner of Jordaan. Beds were comfortable and as an extra it had an air conditioner. The room accommodations and cleanness a plus. I believe that for elderly people it would be difficult to climb the steep stairs for the top room, but other the hotel is in excellent conditions. Nothing wrong with the building, just that the stairs were a little narrow and steep. Check in time its at 3:00 p.m. but the nice staff at the restaurant have a place to put your bags. Check out it is at 11:30 a.m. Good value for your money.
