Would certainly come again!
A modern hotel right by the Rhine. Bright, comfortable rooms with a good bathroom and a fridge. Worth requesting a balcony when booking. (A small niggle - a little table is a ‘must’ on a balcony!) Family owned and run. There is no lift, but the ‘Chefin’s son was on hand to take my case to my room! Excellent buffet breakfast, and on 3 out of 5 mornings I was able to breakfast on the terrace. Good restaurant, but Andernach has numerous cafés and restaurants which are worth exploring. It is an interesting old town, still with parts of its medieval walls intact. The Rhine ‘promenade’ is well provided with benches, where one can spend a restful hour or so in the cool of the evening, watching the passing barge traffic. It is a good centre from which to explore this part of the Rhine valley and the Eifel hills, and I recommend you do this from the Hotel Villa am Rhein! eliensis
Nice and cosy
I absolutely enjoyed staying at Hotel Villa am Rhein! The rooms are clean and well decorated; the staff is very courteous and polite. The hotel is situated on the bank of the river Rhein which gives an amazing opportunity to enjoy the sunrise or have a lovely morning or evening walk. The hotel has a restaurant and provides laundry service. You can also ask for a room with a beautiful view of the river.
Surprising Hotel
My wife and I stayed at the Villa am Rhine earlier this month and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. We expected a country hotel with standard hotel environment. We found to our delight that this hotel is a very modern, clean and friendly establishment that we recommend without reservation. We speak virtually no Deutsche but all the staff bent over backwards to make us feel welcome, especially one lady who spoke English Lilith. The hotel is situated overlooking the Rhine at Andernach. The breakfast on the balcony overlooking the river was superb. The range of food was extensive and the coffee/tea was served as required. Likewise the restaurant beside the balcony had a great environment and the menu was excellent. We would not hesitate in staying there again if we re-visit the area.
Over rated
Stayed at this Hotel for 6 days with my husband and son. Two rooms were booked, on arrival the girl on reception didn't speak English but another girl appeared she could speak English. They gave my son a room on the ground floor and ours on the first floor. The rooms are supposed to have a river view, which was part river view with obstruction by the restaraunt. The breakfast was the same everyday no variation, the coffee was too strong, when I told the Owner he just said "that's how the Germans like it" however, I did notice that some of the Germans were drinking different coffee. This is supposed the be Three Star Superior. What it is, is Over Priced and Over Rated. If we visit Andernach again we will return to the Hotel which is central to the promenade with better Rhein view and all round better quality where we have stayed twice before.
Quaint cosy little place
The location with a beautiful view of the Rhine and the vineyards on the hills is what will strike you first when you reach this boutique hotel. The service is professional and warm and the rooms are clean and comfortable. An Indian restaurant (run by a Pakistani!) and the town centre is just a few minutes walk away. Overall, a good place for a few nights stay in the wine valley region of Germany.
