I booked this hotel as a treat to myself because the window installers on my island had to saw through the stone walls of my ancient house, and the fine powder was a disaster to clean… Knowing I had to spend a night in Terçeira, before catching a flight to California, I booked a night at Hotel do Caracol. Then I read reviews saying the place needed TLC, and the employees were not all as nice as they could be, and I got a bit worried. So I am happy to say, I am having the best time at Hotel,Do Caracol! The premises are just fine! I have the garden view, and I love it! The sea and the swimming pool are just steps away, and I enjoyed both. The buffet was very very good, and the service was 5 star! Só. Don’t listen to the snobby reviews. I will be a repeat guest hear, I love this hotel!

This was my second visit in 1 month to this hotel. The good part is: The staff is kind and helpful. The food in the restaurant is good and the breakfast is not bad, with some local products. The very bad part is: they have a procedure for moisturising the floor and air of the corridors and the rooms with an excessive quantity of a very aggressive detergent! In the way that awakes you up for beeing so strong when the cleaning staff are performing the procedure and it longs for entire day...

Pros: Accommodating staff. Good mattress. Bed well made. Good internet. Cons: Flat pillows Cockroaches in room, corridors,... Intense bad smell in the room Room view not according to description Hotel in need of major work, not TLC. Suggestion to management: check Protur Playa Cala Millor or NH Schipol to understand what a 4 star hotel should be. Caracol is 2 star.

Nice Hotel with need of a little TLC

We stayed here for a week as part of the Azores Getaway Package in May 2022. Location: Hotel is on the waterfront which is beautiful but a bit of a hike to the City of Angra. If you have any mobility issues you need to take a cab for about $5 euros or find a hotel closer. I didn't mind the walk, but in May it rained every night and was hard to plan the walk around the weather. Gym: Gym was closed due to renovations and the option was a gym in Angra. No prior warning of this. Bar: Bar upstairs has a patio over looking the water and the staff are very attentive and accommodating. Staff went out of there way to serve us. Maids: Rooms were clean but ran out of toilet paper and Kleenex and had to ask maids for refill. Left most days for tours and when we returned at 4PM the room still wasn't done. Requested an upgrade on booking to oceanfront, but was advised there were non available. With only about 20 people at breakfast I found this hard to believe. Staff assisted with electrical adaptors and assisted with restaurants in the area. Front staff assisted when asked. Most people reported the rooms outdated which I didn't find. The beds were firm but comfortable but we had two singles pushed together. We had room 220 which was second floor overlooking not much. The exterior paint needs a bit of work and the exterior looks a little tired. Construction was ongoing on the ocean decks below so jack hammers were going during the day. I guess the work needs to be done and the spring is the off season so no fault here. Breakfast: Breakfast was the same everyday which I was expected having read previous reviews. Breakfast was not bad, but always found something to eat. Coffee from the machine was watered down. We usually got a coffee across the street in the morning. I would not discourage anyone from going here just adjust expectations.

We found the staff just okay but not really friendly. There are some exceptions in the upstairs bar. Carlos is very friendly and helpful. The cleaners seem to miss giving rooms adequate toilet paper/ Kleenex. The daily breakfast was the same everyday so the hotel should consider changing it up from time to time.
