Perfect surf weekend in Búzios
Reviewed 14 April, 2019
This beautiful pousada is located in the perfect spot for a surf trip. With the surf right in front, beautiful rooms and excellent service you have found the right place if you decide to go here! The food is super tasty, and the common areas is really open, light and inviting. I loved the pool areas and the fact that they also have a sauna and a small training room. Basically all you need for your holiday.

My wife and I stayed at Pousada Maravista for two nights. The location is excellent: RIGHT on Geribá beach in Buzios. You walk out the “front” of the hotel, pass the nice pool and lawn, and there you are, feet on the sand.
It was my first time in Buzios and I was having trouble deciding where exactly we wanted to be in the area. The northern side of the peninsula is great because it has the Rua das Pedras area with shops and restaurants, but there is not so much of a beach area and the all the fishing boats park in the water there. I decided to pick something right on Geribá, on the southern edge, and we would drive over to the central area for dining and entertainment. That worked out well.
Pousada Maravista is in a very quiet neighborhood. They have a private parking area on the opposite corner from the hotel entrance where guests can park. A sensor system at the gate sets off an alarm at the front desk, alerting the staff when you arrive so that they can open it for you. When you want to exit, you just let them know on the way out.
Very friendly staff and a few of the staff members are good with English. We had a standard room with no view (the only kind left that weekend) and it was very nice. Clean, nice bathroom, nice bed, television with many channels, in-room safe, refrigerator with food and drinks, ceiling fan, and a nice little outdoor patio area.
The outdoor pool is nice and they have some nice reclining chairs to sit on. If you want to park yourself on the beach, the hotel has its own reserved area and the staff will bring out beach chairs for you. They also deliver drinks and small plates of food to the beach.
The section of the beach where the hotel is located is not as crowded as the center portion of the beach. When you walk toward the water and turn left up the beach, you’ll start to see the mass of umbrellas and other beachgoers.
Breakfast at the hotel was nice. Not amazing and a bit limited in selection for what I was expecting, but nice. They serve a small buffet with coffee, cake, bread, fruits, and other things. They can cook eggs for you upon request.
The hotel as a very small gym, but you could get something done in there. Two cardio machines and a cable station. They also have a game room with pool table.
My only complaints about the hotel; the air conditioner in our room made a lot of noise, which ruined our sleep, the WiFi was poor/non-functioning in our room, and we could hear everything our neighbors were saying/ doing. Also, they have some sort of tree on the beachside lawn (a magnificently beautiful tree - I think it’s a mango tree) that was dropping these huge seeds all over the place. The seeds are large and hard enough that they are dangerous to step on barefoot, and dangerous to sit under.
Also, the room key. They give an actual key for the room. You have to use the key to come in and then you have to use it to lock the door from the inside. The problem is that the key is also attached to the card you need to insert in the wall for power to turn the lights on. So, at night, when you come into your room, you have to insert the key into the lock, in the dark.
Overall, this hotel was very good. The rating is based primarily on location and ease of access to the beach. Following that, the rating is based on the cleanliness and amenities of our room, and the hotel itself. I would have given this hotel a five star rating, but the noisy air-con, poor WiFi, and thin walls in the room, when analyzed in conjunction with the price I paid, are substantial negatives.
They should perform maintenance on the AC units, add WiFi relay transmitters to spread the signal, and add sound insulation to the walls. Get a modern key card system for the doors as well.
a little bit of paradise

My room was better than some of my group - but all had a walk in shower., air con and a fridge. All ground floor rooms had a private courtyard. A short walk through the grounds and you were on the beach. Only there for 4 nights so not a lot of time to explore, but easy to get a taxi to the centre for a good choice of eateries and shopping. The staff were so friendly and helpful - even when the little ones were running around. Great breakfast and a good choice of lunch and dinner if you did not want to venture far. Lovely place to just chill and enjoy the sunshine, felt good.
Lovely Hotel!! Highly recommend!

When looking at hotels in Buzios was unsure what you would get... as some seemed very expenses or rather cheap... This hotel was mid range price and worth the money!!
We paid for a sea view room and so worth it! Roms was clean and fresh we had a small balcony with table and chairs that over looked the pool and beach which was very nice!
Bathroom was clean, a/c worked well.
All the staff was very friendly and helpful, bringing you drinks to the beach or just saying good morning.
Food was lovely, breakfast had a very good selection!
Pool by the beach was a little cold, the hot tub was nice and warm, you can walk down the back steps to the beach and get free chairs, umberellas and towels for the beach that the staff will take down for you.
Lovely seating area in the garden and some sofas under a roof so very nice to seat outside.
