This is an ultra-cool boutique style hotel, although not very small, on the edge of the Lady Bird Lake path and the Congress Ave. Bridge. The rooms either face the city towards the Capitol, or face the lake, which is what I would recommend you get. The views are beautiful. There is a full service restaurant, at this point only open for dinner, called Arlo Grey. There is a VeraCruz taco attached to the hotel, where you can get amazing tacos all day long...there's a line at breakfast, so I called ahead and they were waiting for me! That also has a door out to a patio out front of the hotel, and for hotel guests only, a door that leads out to the pool and pool deck. The pool is small, but nice, with comfortable seating and a view of the lake. There is an outdoor fireplace and seating around it, as well. There is a take out window into the bar at VeraCruz, where you can order food and drinks while at the pool. The pool is only accessible by room key, so it's not open to the public. The rooms are nice, fairly good size for a city, but are very modern. There is not a lot of drawer space (our little chest of drawers was inside the closet). Bathroom was spacious. The rooms come with a mini-bar and small fridge, and a dry essentials area stocked with nuts, etc. They are for charge, of course. The beds are very low to the ground, so if you have trouble with your knees, I'd re-think staying here. But they are very comfortable. We stayed in the RWB suite, which was amazing!!! It had a record player and records, and many other amenities. P6, the upstairs brunch space and nightclub, is well worth a visit (or 2, or 10). It has great drinks and the most spectacular view in all of Austin, overlooking all of Ladybird Lake and South Congress. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Bathrooms do need bathroom glasses in them though....made brushing our teeth very difficult!! No way to rinse our mouths after brushing. There is also a full service coffee shop, Alfred's, down in the lobby that is open early to about 5 pm, offering pre-made sandwiches, yogurt, etc, as well as delicious coffee drinks.

Worn hotel with sketchy service.

Not really a luxury hotel, more like a mid-century modern hotel showing wear. Veracruz taco restaurant is exceptional, P6 restaurant is average and overpriced. On check-in they charged my Amex and additional 60% for possible in-hotel charges, yes 60% on top of the room and service charges. Another interesting issue relates to maid service. I wanted to mediate in my room in the mid-morning so I put the do not disturb door hanger out and then removed it after I was done mediating. When I got back to the room in the late afternoon we had no maid service. When I called the front desk they told me that if the do not disturb door hanger is used at anytime maid service will not service the room. Say what? We travel a ton for business and leisure and have never, never ever, heard of such a policy. We recommend you stay elsewhere as Austin has many other options.

Booked this hotel purely based on location, it's very close to the congress bridge, and we could walk to nice bars. But the hotel was so nice we ended up spending more time in the room. They do offer valet, but i opted to park on the street. We had dinner at P6, a really nice restaurant with nice vibes, i would recommend you go there for nice cocktails rather than food. Interaction on the phone to make a last minute reservation and to get ice was very nice, if anything i would have appreciated the front desk staffs to be a little more cardial. They did not seem like they wanted to be there, no warm hello, welcome or anything. But maybe its the check in time rush. Overall i do highly recommend it.
