Fabulous stay

We spent 11 nights at Hotel Kompass, we were on the 5th floor and had a sea view. The staff went out of their way to help you. The room was cleaned everyday. We used sunbeds by the pool area but also on the platform across from sunset beach where a member of staff from hotel provided us with sunbeds and towels. We did walk round to cocobana beach for a day but sunbeds expensive, cost £47 for the day. The bus service to old town is less than 5 minute walk away from hotel and costs about £1.50. The food at hotel was buffet for most nights but when less than 30 guests dining for evening meal it is a la carte. We went on cable car at old town and had lunch at Panarama restaurant which had amazing views . We travelled on bus from Dubrovnik to Cavtat which was well worth a visit, very pretty, 45 mins from old town on bus.

Stayed 4 nights

A lovely hotel in an excellent position. The views over the bay are beautiful & the view on the 10th floor where the reception and bar are was exceptional . We had a lovely view from our room on the 6th floor & I think it is definitely worth paying the extra for sea view. The balconies are spacious & get the sun most of the day , We went into the old town most days using Uber which were always quick to arrive & most drivers friendly & very helpful. Cost was about 60 kunas each way & takes about 15 minutes. We also used Uber to get to the airport which was 30 euros , much cheaper than taxis ordered through the hotel . Breakfast was good offering both English breakfast & continental . The breakfast does not change so does become repetitive . The pool area was lovely & with lots of free sun beds all the time we were there. Definitely no sun bed wars here. However, we were disappointed we were not allowed to put the sun umbrellas up due to the wind. Most days were hot & sunny with a little wind . We feel the hotel should invest in more substantial sun umbrellas & larger heavier bases so umbrellas can be put up . The hotel faces to the south so the sun is shining on you most of the day & shade from an umbrella is needed. The pool was cold so we hardly used it . The beach opposite the hotel is stoney & you have to pay for the sun beds. The bar & pool bar service was a bit slow & this was due to there not being enough staff available during busy times especially at sun set in the upstairs bar but most other times service was very good. The rooms are well equipped with bath robes, slippers & the usual toiletries . Our bed was a six foot bed but made up of 2 three foot beds pushed together & we could feel the join. However the bed was very comfortable & air conditioning was very effective & quiet . The rooms are quiet & you do not hear anyone above or below or beside you. There is also a well equipped minibar in your room. We had lunch at the hotel on our first day which was Ok but have had better elsewhere. We didn’t have dinner in the hotel as it only offers a buffet. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel . Would definitely recommend the hotel but wouldn’t come for longer than a week .

Luxury hotel

From arriving we walked into an oasis of calm. The decor is very modern, white, clean. The lovely fresh smell at reception adds to this. Check in was quick & efficient. The location is good for the beach, promenade etc where you’ll find a variety of restaurants & bars. The hotel itself has a nice outdoor terrace (this is where breakfast is served) and they have live music on each night from 7pm. The two bands we saw were very good. Happy hour is also 5pm to 7pm where most drinks have 30% discount. We didn’t sunbathe (due to the weather) but the pool area was nice & clean with decent sunloungers. The bedroom was big, lots of room and the bathroom had a bathtub too. The only tip I’d give is to pack some hangers as there are not enough provided - and we were only staying for 4 nights. Breakfast was decent - nothing special but offered everything you’d expect. We mostly used Uber for getting to/from the Old Town which took 10/15 mins and on average cost £8 each way. All in all a lovely hotel, pleasant staff and views to die for!

Lovely place to stay, only a few downsides

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel itself is beautiful, with clean rooms, a decent pool area and an awesome bar on the top floor. Roughly 15 minutes away from the old town by bus or Uber, but also with plenty of restaurants nearby within walking distance. The only negatives were the sea view room we paid extra for was underwhelming and some of the staff were not welcoming (except for the cleaning staff who are amazing).

very good...take down conifers!

stayed a week. 10th floor in deluxe room. rooms 1006/7/8 are just about ok for great views across the bay. slightly spoilt by 6 large (probably 100ft) conifer trees completely spoiling the view as the are right opposite balcony. They are an eyesore and need cutting right back to improve the view vastly. Hotel in good location, lots of nice walks around the peninsula and a few hit and miss restaurants in area (Madonna was by far the best) Drinks in the area are expensive (london prices) and the wine is generally poor quality and nothing really under £30 a bottle. Breakfast in hotel is superb and hotel generally is excellent
