First trip since Covid, and unfortunately this hotel was very disappointing. Not 5 star quality!

We decided to vacation in Miami as we weren't ready to start international travel yet. The Ritz Bal Harbour is in north Miami Beach, so it is in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by hotels and condos. The hotel itself is very quiet and there are only two rooms per floor. We rented an ocean view suite, which includes a bedroom, sitting room, two bathrooms and a small kitchen including a microwave, fridge, stove, dishwasher. They also provide dishes and silverware. I would recommend stopping at a store and bringing your own paper towels or dish towels as these are not provided. I would also recommend bringing a few simple groceries, as there are no grocery stores within walking distance. It also had two small balconies, one off of the bedroom, and one off the sitting room, with two chairs. The restaurant and room service provided good, although somewhat limited menu. The room service staff were outstanding, friendly, prompt, very professional. Our first day we had lunch in the restaurant and the server just disappeared? We finally got tired of waiting, and decided to get up to leave and found another server in the back who got our bill for us. The hotel was kind enough to let us check in a few hours early, however our room did not look clean. There was something on the wall by the closet from the previous guests, and we reported it, but it still took three days before it was cleaned! (see photo) The only other restaurants/shops within walking distance are the Bal Harbor Shops, so unless you have a car, it is not close to other attractions. The hotel does provide bikes for rent. The beach is quiet and fairly clean of debris. We rented a luxury cabana one day by the pool area. There are 3 cabanas, and they include a private hot tub jacuzzi, hammock, shaded day bed, fruit plate, and four waters. The wait service from the beach restaurant was excellent. However, when we went to check in for the day, we asked the hostess if we could select our cabana, to which she flatly said no. She assigned us the first one which is next to the public jacuzzi, so you do get lots of kids and noise from hotel guests immediately next to you, with not as much privacy as the other two cabanas. The cabana that we did prefer, however, was never used that day! For $600/2 people, I would not recommend. Overall, even though a quiet hotel, the cost to stay here was not worth the quality or amenities.
Do not stay here

Do not stay here. My husband and I are beyond disappointed in our stay. Due to Covid, we opted to stay in the country for our honeymoon. I have always heard nothing but amazing things about Ritz Carlton hotels, and we wanted everything to be perfect for our honeymoon. After researching all of the other 5 star beachfront resorts in Miami, we chose the Ritz Carlton Bar Harbour. We stayed at a 5 star Hilton on our wedding night before flying to Miami, and the wonderful treatment we received there was in stark contrast to our experience at the Ritz. Coming to the here directly after was such a let down. My husband and I were a good 10-15++ years younger than the other guests staying at the Ritz, and the staff was pretty rude to us. The first few days, we were annoyed with the treatment, but just brushed it off. After that, we were pretty mad about it. I think the staff believed we were there with day passes and treated us as second rate citizens. The rooms were pretty nice, but dated and show plenty of signs of wear. Our faucet in the bathroom leaked pretty badly, and the floors felt sticky. The pool is not nearly as nice in person as it looks online; kind of an old, dated looking pool, really. The food in the hotel restaurant is NOT good, but still very expensive. Eat elsewhere. We don't mind paying a lot for a wonderful meal, but the food in the freezer section of the grocery store is better than what you get at the restaurant. After our overall experience with the treatment received at the hotel, we will not be staying at another Ritz, and we have advised our friends and family to do the same. Extremely disappointed in our stay, especially as this was supposed to be a special celebration for our wedding.I always try to stay at either a Marriott or Hilton chain when traveling for work or pleasure (my husband and I travel a ton), and it looks like we will be a Hilton family from now on. I am looking at options to re-do our honeymoon as this trip was so bad. I reached out to Marriott regarding this issue as well, and we received no feedback. While the location of the hotel is great, everything else is sub par. The rooms are nice, but dated and show signs of wear. The hotel grounds including the pool are not impressive. You do not feel that you are at a classy Ritz. I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Simply not a 5 star Hotel

Number of Stars awarded solely due to value proposition. We were severely underwhelmed. The bell desk / valet were incredibly gracious and welcoming as was the front desk. Unfortunately there is nothing else positive I can say. The rooms were without character and the decor sparse. Hotel is a cold box. Not an old hotel but rough around the edges, literally and figuratively. Plumbing fixtures loose. Discoloration in bathroom mirror from the once-high-tech tv installed behind the mirror. Common areas were ok, but the pool deck wasn't great. Not sure how the developer for convinced the Marriott Group to put the Ritz name on the property. It should have Marriott or Sheraton branding. I cannot recommend at prices they charge.
