Great hotel, friendly front desk

Reviewed 20 march, 2023

We chose this hotel because we needed two rooms and close to the downtown. This hotel did not disappoint. It is an older hotel ( like most in Banff) but it was very well kept, the rooms were spacious and clean, the lobby was very cozy with the fireplace going all the time. Special THANK YOU to the front desk workers - especially to Viktoriia. She was very polite and helpful, was always ready to assist us and her friendly personality made our stay very pleasant. Another BIG thank you goes to Ken and Sophie! Thank you for restaurant suggestions! Free underground parking was a nice surprise. The hotel restaurant was closed, we went to the KEG next door instead for breakfast.

Nice room, no heat.

We chose this lodge for a decent price, indoor pool, hottub and gym. We're currently on our 2nd day of 4 nights/5 days at the Rundlestone Lodge. Our 1st night in room 328 (3rd floor standard room) was nice with a mountain view. It was also along the hallway with a view overlooking the pool but not a room on the pool wall side (which would be awful as we could see into those peoples rooms). We were happy until our heat stopped working at 4am (I know this because it woke me up cutting in and out while making whistling/squealing noises) but when it stopped I fell back asleep as it was warm. When we woke up freezing at 7am I realized that the noises were the furnace or room fans breaking. It's -35 outside. We told the front desk at 7am that we had no heat. The lady at the front desk said she'd send maintenance up right away while we went for breakfast, this didn't happen. We came back an hour later to a freezing room. I went downstairs to ask again. Then we went out for 5 hours to come back to a cold room with the thermostat changed and a new sign above it saying fan not working. I went to the desk again to ask for a new room. They said they'd bring space heaters up and could possibly find a new room in an hour. So we went out again then returned at 7pm to no space heaters. So my 5th time at the front desk 12hrs later with no heat, we were given a room on the 2nd floor which is warm. The front desk said this is an ongoing issue and the hotel needs updating. The lady never apologized or offered anything for the inconvenience just said that the manger will be in tomorrow. The restaurant isn't open either. For the price at the time of booking which seemed like a deal saving $20-$40 a night 2 weeks prior to arrival when rooms at all hotels were cheap, if knew what I know now I would have booked somewhere else instead of having to look at other hotels the day of stuck in Banff desperate for somewhere warm to stay when everything went up $100 a night, I would have booked next door or somewhere else. If you do say here make sure to ask if the rooms warm or check it first.

It was ok but not outstanding

Stayed here for 3 nights in a top floor suite which supposedly included a kitchen which we paid extra for. Love the setup, decor and loft and so did our boys but calling the kitchen a kitchen is a big stretch. Microwave was way smaller than we expected, couldn’t even get a bacon tray in there to make breakfast. Mini fridge was big enough but was not cold so we turned it up alittle then it started freezing stuff which was annoying. Doesn’t have a stove but burner plates, front one was broken so that wasn’t of much use. Used the back one but there was no fan so the smoke just stayed in the room. Tried to open the window and the arm to retract it broke off so we couldn’t close it. Lucky maintenance came up right away to repair it. Tried to use the toaster even though we were told that the room didnt have one but did anyways. Could only use one side because the front side was smoking too much to use. Parking garage is bizarre, has a ridiculous low clearance and the lines badly need to be repainted so it’s difficult to tell where you can and can not park. Pool was nice but hottub was more of a warm tub which sucks when your muscles hurt.

Beautiful Lodge, exceptional customer service.

We stayed at the Rundlestone Lodge for 4 nights. We met and interacted with different staff and they were all amazing, professional and very personable. The rooms are clean and spacious. The pool and hot tub are very nice. There was no operating restaurant on site but many choices in walking distance. The temperature in the room was comfortable.

tired and noisy. rude cold staff at check in. heater was really loud and kicked in and out all night. plus was really hot showers in old dated bathrooms and good wifi. had to ask for cleaning and location is good close to main town but a decent walk in the cold winter days.
