Just a shocker, so close to disaster.
So hard to find....a large sign out front on Ratchawong was hidden from sight by a van at 11.00pm where taxi dropped us from airport. Knew it was down a lane, near a large building, but could only see the lane prior to the real one. So 10 minutes of wandering around, before asking the locals closing their shops. Fortunately they directed us to the correct lane. It is the lane BETWEEN two large buildings. An hour later we would have been in BIG trouble getting help. Still....go up the correct lane, turn left at Chinese Temple, walk 4 - 5 metres, and go up tiny lane next to Temple. No signage to let you know this. So could easily miss the tiny lane, and continue wandering. Pity that our weekend was special for the Chinese....as Temple celebrations started at 5AM!!!!! And continued through to 7AM the next morning. Hardest bed EVER in Asia. Had to lift the sheets to actually check that it was a bed! Tiny shower/toilet/handbasin. Everything gets wet when showering. Outlet needed improving, as water did not readily escape, and thus soggy feet when using toilet. Positives: Chinatown is alive. Cheap eats all around. Bus out front, river 5 minutes walk. Reception pleasant and efficient. Drinks fridge at reception. Mini-fridge in room. Quick elevator.
