Worst customer service
Reviewed 4 july, 2022
Worst customer service ever. Bad information about check-in procedures, not possible to store luggage before check-in, as there is no staff available at the adress, and nobody answers on the phonenumber available by the door or on the web, just an answereingmachine, impossible to get in contact with. This was booked through booking.com and unfortunately they are not able to get in touch with them either!! Watch out! Best advice: AVOID!!

Quirky Customer Service

Pros: Great location; beautiful, clean modern rooms; great coffee, lovely appointed kitchen that guests may use. Cons: Lack of communication; no sound proofing between rooms & halls; AC didn't work. I would not stay here again & therefore would not recommend this hotel. I’m still baffled as to the high ratings on this website and other travel websites. I’ll be wary to go by ratings again for accommodations I find on this website and other popular travel websites. 1) When we arrived there was no one available to let us in. The reception is open only from 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Check in is at 3:00, no one was even available to leave luggage. It's extremely inconvenient. We wasted a lot of time the day of check-in. We sent multiple WhatsApp messages & could see that they had been received, but there were no responses even though I requested responses. A phone call ended in a hang up on their end. There was a sign on the door stating the hotel would be closed until after the day we had a reservation to check in. This was disconcerting (see photo). Someone should man the desk during normal business hours, 9-5. In speaking with other guests & even the hotel staff at another nearby accommodation, this is a frequent event. Other travelers there during our stay had a similar experience --- wasting a lot of time trying to check in or drop-off bags. 2) Temp control didn’t cool the room. The thermostats in the room don’t control the temperature in the rooms. We had left one of our keys, which work the outlets, plugged in the entire day. The room was still hot when we returned early evening. The owner suggested we leave the key in the outlet totally disregarding my comment that we had done exactly that — left one of the keys in the outlet all day. When we returned at midnight, the room was still hot & this was May. I cannot even imagine the inferno the room will be in the summer months. 3) There's minimal soundproofing. You can hear guests from other rooms and in the hallway.

You Can’t Go Wrong With This Place

Alvaro (?spelling) was a wonderful staff person who was interesting, informative, friendly and hard working. Everything was spotlessly clean and well organized. The location is great, and our room was quiet at night in spite of the fact that The 8 is on a busy street. Covid precautions were observed- there is no breakfast at this time, but tea and coffee are available. The recommended restaurant across the street (Madrid Barcelona) was excellent! The bed was comfortable, there is ac and television (which we did not use). Would definitely stay here again.

Unexpected Surprise

A small boutique hotel just down the street from Casa Batllo. Modern and sleek with exceptionally friendly staff. Breakfast is simple but outstanding. The hotel is in an older building with some associated quirks and those hyper sensitive to sound may have issues, but I enjoyed my stay.

Hidden gem in Barcelona

Unassuming entrance off Calle de Aragon with lift to first floor, where another unassuming door opened into this amazing little B & B. Staff, Noelia & Michelle, were both wonderful ladies and made us feel at home straightaway. Room was fantastic, even had a little surprise of chocolates on bed to welcome us. Bathroom was large and very modern. Good selection of food for breakfast which was included, and an added bonus was tapas and wine every day after 4pm included. The guest lounge was available 24 hours a day to chill out with good selection of coffees and teas available for guests. Busy road, but The 8 was so quiet. Central location made it easy to navigate the city and the Metro system. Named the 8 as it only has 8 rooms. Will definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it.
