Most friendly staff I've ever met!

I've been staying here every week for the last 6 months and will not choose any other hotel in the area. The staff always has a smile and greets me by name every day. I only wish other hotels could be like this.
Nice Property in Spite of Construction
Reviewed 19 september, 2019
I stayed one night at this property last week. I enjoyed my stay very much. The front desk staff was very welcoming and my check in was quick. In spite of the construction, sometimes a necessary event to keep a property up to date, my time there was not impacted by crew or their activity. The very best feature of my stay was the bed. It was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was good and it was fresh and warm. I will definitely stay there again when in the area.
Perfect for our stay

We stopped in Bastrop on way to Port Aransas. This Holiday Inn express was in a perfect location between the River Co. and Southside BBQ. The desk clerk was very professional upon check in and very prompt in letting us know when our room was ready. The room and bathroom was very clean and the temp was comfortable. There is construction going on and they made that very clear. The pool did have styrofoam all in it from the construction, but it didn't stop us!
Don't stay here....

...Unless you call and make sure all construction is finished. Parking lot is small to began with and now it is full of construction materials. They really should shut down and get it finished. There's a smell that's musty from the work. Kids of workers were running around acting crazy. The worst when they were smashing there faces in our window to see in. It's just too much.
Not welcoming to (Real) Service Dogs
Reviewed 25 january, 2019
I’m the founder and training director for my organization that provides service dogs to veterans. When I informed the employee that we would be staying with a service dog. She immediately became defensive and started to explain what she felt were laws regarding service dogs. I explained to her what I did for a living and assured her that we were legitimate. She seemed upset and kept driving her point home that if the room smelled like dog urine or there was any damage we would be charged $150. So I asked her if that was dog related damage or any damage that was already there due to the fact that hotel rooms are not pristine, she replied with “any damage”. She also told me that I couldn’t leave the dog alone because if I did then they were going to assume it’s not a service dog. Nothing in the American With Disabilities act states that the dog must be with the handler at all times, there are places a dog could not go or there are some environments the handler may choose to not take his dog. As I was walking away she said in a loud voice “and he needs to be on leash at all times!!” At this point I was frustrated and replied with “God, I know” and continued to my room. When I got to the room I had to walk through this very narrow walkway that didn’t seem like it was handicap compliant, there were no signs that clearly told me which door would lead me inside the hotel. I found a door that looked like a utility closet door and went in. The suite I reserved looked outdated, the remote control battery cover was broken, I quickly took it to the front desk (didn’t want to get charged $150) the whirlpool bathtub wasn’t working properly, the bed was uncomfortable and overall it just seemed outdated. I called the best western and got better customer service, at the best western the rooms are nicer, the front desk person seemed more knowledgeable on dealing with service dogs and was very welcoming. I have left my card for the manager to call me back before contacting corporate.
