Amazing stay!
Had such a wonderful stay at the roundhouse. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and to top it off: incredibly stylish. The staff was really friendly and the to go breakfast was delish. Already planning our next trip back.
Fantastic Boutique Hotel!
You’d be hard pressed to find a place like this 1.5 hours outside of the city in NY. What a fantastic hotel. Clean, modern, historical and great value. We stayed for three nights and found it fantastic. Free breakfast dropped off at the room/in the fridge every morning. Two restaurants on site that largely exceed the offerings in the area and a variety of room types. Larger more opulent rooms in the “roundhouse” building and nicely appointed rooms in the “mill” building. Great hotel to get away for a few days especially if you don’t like to search for a place to eat. Barry the food/restaurant manager was extremely hospitable and made sure we were satisfied at both restaurants. I will be back!
A real bummer
In an act of good faith, sent the following points to a hotel representative to get their take, but alas received nothing in response -- all pertaining to a recent stay at The Roundhouse Beacon as part of a weekend getaway. While the property is stunning and location convenient to the downtown area, the accommodations did not meet our expectations, especially considering the premium price paid for the room and expected "chic" boutique experience. It's understood that a small number of modifications may have been due to COVID, which we appreciate, but the overall state of the room was a bit underwhelming and even off putting -- cracks in the wall, unsightly cords and exposed outlets, a lack of storage space, and even a difficult-to-close, unfinished bathroom door without a handle. To top it off, a sub-par heating system left the room chilled throughout the night. The solution? Two portable space heaters provided by the manager on duty. While the staff was helpful in attempting to address our concerns, it was disappointing that two floor space heaters were required to stay warm in December combined with all the other inconveniences. Though the manager was able to provide a slight reduction to our rate, we felt that given the price for one night's stay, even after discount, we'd be hard pressed to return. Beacon is a beautiful town, but we'll likely be looking elsewhere for our next stay which is disappointing considering the great potential for the Roundhouse.
Roundhouse - Beacon NY
The Roundhouse is an excellent boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Beacon NY. Walking distance to all the local mainstreet restaurants and stores including The Snooki Shop. Bring an extra table/snack table for the room if you have kids or want to eat in the room. Beautiful Beacon Falls adjacent to the hotel (see pic). Small fridge was stocked with complimentary OJ and yogurt. Muffins and mini bagels are delivered in the AM. We will go back again in the future.
Bring your own chair, table and plates if you're a couple
Sorry for this review, Roundhouse, but you really dropped the ball here. It's not just that the sliding door over the bathroom never closes, leaving a good four inches open to the world (who would accept a regular bathroom door that stops four inches from closing, even if you were alone?), or that the operator button on the phone (there is no "Front Desk" button) goes right to voicemail that apparently no one listens to, but when you deliver breakfast in a bag at the door, at 8 am, with no paper plates, and one of your guests has to eat off the desktop, sitting at the desk chair, and the other guest has to sit on the bed, eating off the nightstand, one wonders what were you thinking?? This would be unacceptable at the cheapest dive, and, lord knows, you're not cheap.
