Friendly, clean, fab food and dog friendly

We have visited several times and are never disappointed. Large, spacious and clean. Varied menu. Really friendly staff even when rushed off their feet. Large beer garden and outdoor huts. Dog friendly.

A beautiful, modern but relaxed hotel where staff go above and beyond.

We stayed here Sunday 10th October following a week elsewhere in Northumberland. We frequently holiday in the area. My husband had intended and thought he’d also booked the Saturday night too but realised he had not! We contacted The Craster Arms to see if they could accommodate the additional night but unfortunately could not as they were fully booked. A very kind lady (Claire) went above and beyond and text me within ten minutes of me calling her to advise of another local place with space that evening. An example of how the staff here go above and beyond. On the Sunday afternoon we checked into room 1, a modern country feel to the room, very clean and spacious. There’s a sitting area with tv mounted on the wall and small dining table. There were two comfy armchairs one of which had been pulled out and made into a bed for our three year old. The bathroom was modern and clean with fresh white towels supplied. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were left. We didn’t have a table reserved at The Craster Arms but have dined there previously (once on this trip and number of times on previous holidays). They kindly said they’d squeeze us in at 8.00pm but this was too late for our three year old, the gentleman at the bar kindly made space for us at 5.30pm which was perfect. The food in the restaurant is delicious. Absolutely huge portions. The fish and chips I think is their signature dish and one of the best you will have. We have also had the burger with goats cheese (delicious) and my husband had ribeye steak with chips and onions rings which he said was the best he’s had. On our first visit to the pub this trip my son had the children’s chicken burger which was huge, when we stayed on Sunday we asked for something off menu (some beans for him) and they kindly accommodated. The staff are very busy as the pub is so popular but they are always friendly and never make you feel as though anything is too much trouble. The room we stayed in was quiet at night and the curtains/blinds seemed to be blackout ones. Our three year old who feels sleep is a waste of time didn’t wake till 8.00am, having never slept behind 7.00am! Breakfast was in the pub and included in the price we paid. A selection of full English, eggs with bacon or salmon, scrambled egg, toast and cereals. I had the muffin with two poached eggs, bacon and hollandaise sauce which was beautiful. The chef clearly knows how to cook. Eggs were perfect and everything was hot and freshly cooked. My husband had the full English which again was hot and freshly cooked. My son wanted a croissant which was on the menu but the waitress advised they did not have any (due to current Covid supply issues). My son was a little disappointed but asked for beans on toast (again not on the menu but they kindly accommodated). The next thing we knew the boss had driven to Seahouses (next village) and purchased croissants. This was immensely kind and made my son’s day. By way of summary this is an excellent place to stay and we hope to return soon. Thank you to all the staff who looked after us and made our trip so special.

Yet another lovely meal in this relaxed setting, I have tried many of the items on the menu here but my favourite is the fish and chips, generous helpings. The staff provide a friendly professional service. We will definitely be returning here!

Visited for evening meal. It was very busy which is always a good sign. Staff very friendly and efficient. Good choice of food on the menu. Good size portion especially the giant cod , well worth a try. We were in a group of six and all meals served together. Good selection of beers. Would definately recommend a visit
