Thanksgiving at Omni Bedford Springs

Reviewed 30 november, 2021

My girlfriend and I brought our family to the hotel for a five-night stay at the Bedford Springs Resort. With eight adults ranging in age from 24 to 84, this hotel and the surrounding town have activities for all. We enjoyed dining on the property at Tillies, Frontier, and 1796, as well as in downtown Bedford. Food and service were as expected and anticipated in these trying times. The entire staff was accommodating and professional throughout our stay. We did book and thoroughly enjoy the ATV tour and off-property trap shooting at the Bedford County Sportsman's Club. Would we go again? Yes, and in fact, we will return in the spring to experience the golf course and spa. As for others and their comments, yes, the hotel is showing its age, but let's remember, the main building is nearly 200 years old while the other buildings are newer at just 150 years old! I understand the balance of preserving the old and improving with the new where possible. US Presidents, senators, and congressmen, and many other dignitaries have stayed here over the years. Come walk in their footsteps and enjoy the history of the property and immerse yourself in the entire experience.

Lovely resort, but....

Reviewed 21 november, 2021

I just spent a 2-night stay with my husband for his birthday. Our room was lovely, lots of comfortable spots to relax around the premises, service was fine. We decided to use the pool, which was nice, but I expected to be able to change clothing after using the pool, but there is no locker room, changing area, or shower to rinse off, in the pool area, or instructions on where one can change. Even my chain fitness center has a connecting locker room and a rinse off shower in the pool area. The closest restroom required you to exit through an unmarked door into a busy hallway, and then hope nobody is in the single use bathrooms (which were designated by gender even though only one person can use it at a time), leaving a drippy mess for the next guest. Oddly, they installed a suit spinner near the glass doors, inside the pool area, This mechanism is used to remove excess water from a suit, and is normally installed inside the locker room, so you can spin the suit after you change. How do they expect people to use it in a public area? People were leaving the pool, wrapped in towels or whatever cover ups they brought with them, and then had to walk through the hotel to get to the room. I had to walk straight through the lobby to get to the elevator to the long walk to my room, and I was really cold by the time I got there. There was a storage area by the pool that could be converted to changing areas.

Disappointing First Time Stay

Reviewed 6 november, 2021

My husband surprised me with a two night stay at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort for our 30th anniversary. We both were very excited to be breaking out from the Covid restrictions and finally traveling again. We had always heard how amazing the hotel was and perhaps our expectations led to more disappointment. Pros: Lovely setting and quite historic. The spa was the highlight of our trip. We both enjoyed treatments and loved experiencing the tranquility of an afternoon being pampered. The staff was very attentive and lovely to make our visit all that we hoped for. Cons: A definite problem with staffing and I understand that many establishments are experiencing this. When you pay over 500.00 a night though, you expect service. Our room was adequate but maid service never made it up. We returned from the spa to find the room untouched.....no bed made....no clean towels. We were leaving for dinner in town in an hour so after calling the front desk they said they were come later when we were at dinner. They did come but did not leave waters, coffee refills, or new towels. My husband had to go down himself and get these items. Calling the front desk was an ordeal in itself because no one ever answered the phone. Our lunch in the Tavern was poor. My grilled cheese looked like something at a fast food counter. It was not crowded so we can't blame it on that. My husband sandwich choice was just as bad. Our lunch bill was 50.00 and again......I just expected so much more. Do not object to the price......but at that price....you should get quality food. Again, we both had great expectations. I thought it would be first class.....that's what we paid for and that's what we should have received. Will I be back? Probably not......Would I recommend? Probably not.

Gorgeous facility but........

Reviewed 2 november, 2021

I have been coming here since 2007 every other October for a spa getaway with my sister. The hotel and grounds are gorgeous. However they are starting to show their age. The carpeting needs replaced and the rooms need refurbished. Furniture is beat up and dirty in the rooms. Moldy caulk and grout in the tub is unacceptable for 450.00 per night. Curtain was hanging off the rod, bugs everywhere, just not a clean place. Safe wasn't working, phone didn't work, on the balcony the posts were missing their tops. No one noticed this? Thats a simple fix. Its a shame because when we first started coming here it was pristine, new and beautiful. Felt like royalty. The spa is outstanding. love their quiet room and facility. Also worn but seemed to be cleaner. We both decided it wasn't worth 450.00 a night so we probably wont stay again but we will visit the spa.

Great Visit

We really enjoyed our stay! The hotel grounds were beautiful and the staff was very friendly. The hiking trails were very well maintained and we enjoyed exploring the mountain. During our stay we did the ATV and horseback riding. Both we awesome and would highly recommend both! Overall we had a great time!
