Great Hotel, Lovely Restaurant

Reviewed 4 august, 2022

Currently spending my last night here, and enjoying the restaurant for the second time. The food is fabulous, the rooms are spacious and clean and the staff epitomise Belfast: warm, friendly and full of humour. I would recommend this as a place to stay in an amazing city and definitely hope to return soon.

Disappointing experience

Reviewed 3 august, 2022

We booked a table at House for my daughter’s 18th birthday. I made them fully aware of our plans for cocktails and mocktails as we had a younger member in the group. I also said we wouldn’t be eating at the venue. On arrival, Paul asked to see ID for my 18 yr old, which I was pleased to see. However, when he asked for ID for my younger daughter and I explained she was only 13 he seemed annoyed and persisted in telling us that we shouldn’t be there if we weren’t eating. He made her feel very uncomfortable. The two tables we had been told we were having turned out to be 1 table and a hightable with bar stools. Not ideal for 2 members of the group! We asked for 2 more seats as there was plenty of room at the table but they said none were available. The service was incredibly slow and our first waitress wasn’t particularly friendly or helpful. We did have another girl who was lovely and very helpful, albeit the drinks took forever to come and my daughter found a hair in her drink. The cocktails were very nice. We weren’t going to risk asking for a replacement! The toilet facilities were disgusting, the table was sticky and dirty with a dead flower arrangement on it. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Good City Centre small hotel

Reviewed 31 july, 2022

Positioned on a busy and popular road, so no parking facilities. Has a pub/club downstairs hence noisy up until the early hours. Earplugs are provided but not very effective. Room was dark but clean, a few minor faults in the bathroom like cracked tiles and non matching replacements. No kettle, but a coffee making machine available with no instructions. Not great for making tea, and no biscuits. Basic iron and board provided which was adequate. Corridor to the rooms was quite airless and a bit fetid. Really could do with some fresh air. Small lift to all floors made access easy. Breakfast a little confusing as you have to choose one item from the list of alternatives, even though the Continental Breakfast description says - start your breakfast with this. BUT, when pointed out to the waitress she spoke to the manager who kindly agreed to provide a cooked breakfast at no extra cost. All staff polite, helpful and quite delightful.

Good pub and service

Reviewed 10 july, 2022

We went into the House a few times during our stay in Belfast. It is a nicely set out pub and the staff were always welcoming and friendly, service was very good. We sat outside each time so we could watch the world go by and enjoyed each visit we made. Great pub that I would recommend.

Birthday

Reviewed 3 july, 2022

My daughter who is gluten intolerant went here to celebrate a friends birthday. She had enquired beforehand regarding gluten free options and was told there was no problem! Shocked to find when meal came out and none of it was gluten free especially when she made it clear she was intolerant!! She had to have a new meal prepared which came when the other 3 friends had finished theirs -'not ideal to have to then eat on your own!! It was very bad service from start to finish and their certainly needs to be more awareness and training for staff and management to be aware of the pain someone goes through for days when served food their body cant cope with!! Very very poor!!!
