Nice location for both City and South Bsy, very disappointing property.

I am a big fan of Hyatt House and Hyatt Place but this particular property was a bit of a miss. It is conveniently situated near Oracle in relatively quiet city of Belmont. The hotel’s location is very convenient for both South Bay and San Francisco with a quick access to 101 North & South. The accommodation is a walk up 3 story building with outside corridors leading directly to your front door. The doors face a small pool/ bbq/ fire pit equipped court yard which You access via reception area. There is no elevator but they offered me a choice of ground or other levels to stay in if you did not want to negotiate the stairs. The building is dated. Upon arrival we were checked in by an efficient but very unsmiling employee. There was no mention of my loyalty status which they are usually very good about. They usually offer you complimentary bottled water (a small but pleasant perk of their loyalty program) daily but that did not happen once during our 9 night stay. The room was not serviced very well at all. The rug needed vacuuming and various surfaces needed to be wiped up. I was particularly bothered by how unkempt the kitchen drawers and inside of the cabinets were. They looked as if they have not been touched in a while. As it is a”fully” equipped kitchen I put everything in the dishwasher including the cutlery tray which had grime and crumbs. Thank god I had a big container of wipes. The most disgusting was the shower where the previous guests’ hair was plastered onto all three sides of the bathroom wall. There were also some grimes that i was able to wash off easily with hot water. Since we arrived fairly late on the evening I dealt with it myself the best I could for the evening. On the following morning I addressed the situation with photos to the employee behind the reception. I was ready for the room cleaning to not happen - as I read the sign on the reception desk the previous night that said that due to COVID-19 they do not service the room daily unless requested a day prior; fresh linen was available upon request. This particular employee was very helpful and he said that he will ensure that the room will be serviced as soon as we wanted on that day. When we came back from the day out the room was serviced normally. There were amenities in the bathroom that were not present the night before on the vanity. Also it was one of the most poorly equipped kitchen amongst all the Hyatt Houses I’ve stayed in. (I have stayed in quite a few of them coast to coast). There was no frying pan, for example. We asked to be loaned one and they brought one immediately from their main kitchen. I think I have a fair expectation of this level of Hyatt chain. Some of the properties are older but generally they are a great value for money and give you good amount of space (we typically stay in 1 bedroom suite - so separate bedroom and living / dining room with full kitchen). Sometimes if the condition of the property was disappointing the staff’s smile or lovely demeanor made up for it. However I sadly have to say this one was a thumbs down period. Cleanliness (at the least in appearance) should be the paramount especially under the current circumstances (pandemic). Also for those considering to stay on the ground level, the foot steps of your fellow guests upstairs could be very loud. I’m not certain if we just had a very “active” guests who walked around a lot but the noise was very apparent. You may not believe me but I rarely write bad reviews. But I was truly disappointed with this particular Hyatt House. I refrained from posting the worst of the photos but the pictures are: black sticky “stuff” found under the sink and how dirty the kitchen counter surface and cutlery tray was after a couple of wipes. I have not lost my faith in my Hyatt House/Place chain but this property, sadly was a miss on many count. I was bummed for my husband as h this was his first trip since the pandemic. Regardless we managed to have a good time anyhow blessed with great weather etc.

My recent stay of November 2021, front desk staff was helpful and accomodating to needs. Kitchen staff could learn to be more accomodating - I asked for coffee after breakfast hours and was told by kitchen staff to wait for the morning. The front desk offered packets so I can make coffee in my room. Thank you.
One of the worst

We stayed in Hyatt house in Belmont/Redwood city during the thanksgiving week. We booked a one bedroom suite since we had a toddler and wanted to have the flexibility of having a kitchenette. The hotel is in a poor condition. Appliances and heating/cooling system make a lot of noise. The dishwasher was broken and it took them ~ 2 days to fix it. The breakfast was the worst and cheapest in all the hotels I have ever been. They do not even have butter and jam!! There is no 24 hour market in and no other restaurant in the hotel. Once I asked the front desk if they know of any restaurant that might be open for the Thanksgiving night and the answer was "she is herself looking for one and has not found any yet!!!". It is a completely cheap and broken hotel.
DO NOT STAY IF YOU NEED WIFI

Room is nice, but wifi is trash. Internet is out every few minutes. Called front desk multiple times but nothing was done. They said we could change a room. But how would changing a room help when the wifi of the entire hotel is down? The staff needs some common sense.

It was a comfortable couple of weeks that I spent at Hyatt House. The breakfast is good, staff is helping and cleaning is great. For the equipment I would rather suggest to make the fridge like appliances noise free to the maximum extent. It's disturbing!!!
