Overnight spa break with wine and dine

Reviewed 20 january, 2022

My partner and I visited Ramside for my birthday for overnight stay and spa with wine and dine. The receptionist at check in was rude so that set us off to a poor start. The room was excellent, great decor, great view and fab bathroom, comfy bed and good pillows. The spa is well set out with the watch fob to access areas. The range of refreshments on hydro pool was good with apples for a quick snack. We purchased cocktails from the bar which were disappointing, no fruit or anything to resemble a cocktail and the bar maid had to read the menu with a colleague to know how to make it. Dinner in The Rib Room was good but bad - my king prawns were over cooked but my partners scallops were perfect, the shared steak option we had was over cooked and chewy, not what we expected for a £68 steak dish! Breakfast was awful - the bacon was as hard as a rock, no way could we eat it, the sausages were the same, tasted like they were a week old! The beans mushrooms and black pudding were all under a heat lamp but the breakfast was stone cold. The best part was a pot of yoghurt and some berries. It was probably the worst breakfast experience I have ever had (and I’ve stayed in a lot of spa hotels). For the cost of £370 I had much higher expectations than what we experienced, the food was awful, the reception staff were rude and unhelpful, the room was nice and the spa relaxing. Would I stay at Ramside again NO - would I recommend Ramside NO - Is Ramside worth the money ABSOLUTELY NO! Extremely disappointed

Ramside Hall hotel and spa

Reviewed 19 january, 2022

Visited the Ramside Hall hotel for afternoon tea with my partner for the first time last week. We we’re immediately warmly welcomed by a lovely man named Mahmut, who looked after us from start to finish. He was extremely friendly and had a great sense of humour, you couldn’t fault his customer service. The food was delicious, we will definitely be back.

Nice place for spa days rather than stay over

Reviewed 15 january, 2022

We’ve booked this hotel on the back of a very delightful experience of a full day spa. Upon on arrival, we were greeted by friendly reception staff who designated a ground floor room. At night is noisy and faced the car park. The room is dated, but spacious. It has all the essentials such as; large comfy bed, 4 pillows, coffee and tea making facilities, bathrobes and a safe. There is a dressing table, but the room is very dark. The bathroom has a bath combined with shower which is powerful, miniature shower gel, shampoo and soap, fluffy towels. The ceiling is however full of mould, the water does not drain properly wether showering or using the sink. The bathroom had not been clean in a while and could do with a good scrub. The shaving socket does not work. We dined at the fusion restaurant on the first night. Lovely food and drinks, friendly staff. Residents have limited privileges at the spa as the the focus seems to be towards the people spending the day. We were on a 2 night stay but could only access for an hour, each day. The restrictions continued as we cruised through, for instance, we were only allowed access to the main pool, sauna and steam room. The large whirl pool or outside hot tub, including infinity pool were off bounds. Durham is a 3 mile ride in a taxi. It cost us £15 each way. Overall, nice place but given the limitations and the lack of what to do considering we could not relax around the pool without watching the clock, I would not recommend a full weekend. The spa day is a better choice.

Absolutely brilliant Enjoyed a really lovely stay. Spa was amazing. And the treehouse experience is just the best. Check in was great, spa staff and fusion they all went out above and beyond. House keeping has everything spotless Couldn't of asked for a better birthday celebration
