Welcome to the 70s
This hotel has not had an update since the 70s. We checked in, there was a sign at the reception not to set the airco below 20 or it would break, next to that a sign that the 90 degree sauna broke amd was out of commision. Typical for Fletcher hotels in my view, always something broken or not up to the task. The room was ok, airco from the 70s but working. Furnature in dire need of some painting but otherwise ok. The location is nice, near a nice park and close to a nice city beach, also close to the old city center. We had a social deal for our stay and thus price was ok, however I would not recommend spending regular prices here. Its ok, but thats it.
Average hotel, friendly staff but noisy .
This is an average 4* hotel. Why average? It is noisy and not very clean, specially the bathroom. All equipment needed to have 4 stars is there but it’s just under to what we are used to having. When people next door or above you take a shower or use the toilet, you’re enjoying every minute of it! We normally stay at van Der Valk, NH or mercure and this hotel is just under what the others are offering. The staff however is very friendly and helpful. First time for us at a fletcher hotel, we will try an other one next time.
No warm water/ no gas
I didn't spent much time in this hotel (we used diner outside), so only for sleep and breakfast. But from a hotel you can expect there is hot water, but NO, there was not. When I've checked in (saturdayafternoon), I heard already complains about it from other guests, but in the evening ánd next morning, still no warm water! So no shower to use.... And no compensation from the hotel, when I checked out... They "had to talk about it with the headoffice". Bad situation. Besides that, the room was ok, one bed was very noisy (piep piep piep all the time when you moved) and breakfast was simple but ok. The location of the hotel is good, you walk in just 10 minutes to the centre of Bergen op Zoom. I hope they'll come back to me with some compensation... But my confidence in it is minimal!
Confortable but things to improve
I have been in the hotel for almos 3 weeks in business trip, in general is acceptable but breakfast is the same all days and most of the food is cold. Bar does not have a menu in English so you need to ask someone to translate and the service is very slow, even if there is 1 or 2 tables only. The gym is good but if you go in the morning sometimes is closed so you have to either go to reception or call for it to be open.
Unfortunately I decided to cancel my long stay
Sorry Guys that I write only about bad experience but this is another one , I’m 25 Years on the road all over the world and it’s looks like this hotel working only with treenies , not really responsible management, if you order just simple food it will be served after one hour , not English menu available ( at list on the evening I joined) the rooms are nice , great location of the hotel, but service out of any Fletcher chain... really disappointed about the slow and bad service...
