An Asset to Berlin's Hotel Scene

Reviewed 20 january, 2022

Stayed here for one night in my own hometown because of an IHG points incentive and must say, I was very impressed. The InterConti is a staple to Berlin's hotel scene since the 1960s (first it was a Hilton) and after many extensions and renovations it is still one of Berlin's top hotels. Being IHG Ambassador/Platinum Elite I was upgraded to a Deluxe room and received a food and beverage credit. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was huge. The room design may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but I found it to be a welcome change from the standard design you'll find worldwide now. Didn't have breakfast, but will definitely recommend the hotel to friends and colleagues.

Perfect breakfast and hotel

Reviewed 10 october, 2021

Amazing hotel with perfect view across Berlin. First class breakfast, great service and clean and beautiful rooms. We arrived at night and entered though the illuminated pyramid entrance. After checking in we had a couple of beers at the Marlene bar in front of the fireplace. We will definitely come back

Would be 5* except for elevator mechanical noise outside our room

Reviewed 15 september, 2021

Beautiful view from our oversized room on the 12th floor overlooking the Zoo trees. Hotel is an easy 15 minute walk from Zoo bahnhof, next to the zoo & aquarium. It's a short 20 minute walk to wonderful restaurants in the Nollendorfplatz area of Berlin (especially outdoor dining at Amrit [Indian] & Vamos [Mexican]; we did not dine at the hotel, but given more time, we would have. Staff were friendly tho they did not know whether American citizens were eligible for the German CovPas (as Americans in France are eligible for the Pass Sanitaire proving COVID vaccination). The only real negative was the mechanical noise emanating from the elevator banks all night; it took us a few days to figure out what was making the noise that we could hear inside our room (1213) across from the elevators. Be sure not to accept a room near the elevator! When I brought it to management's attention at check out (they asked about my stay), I was advised they would note my record that I preferred a room away from the elevators next time! (I think the least they could have done is offer me a few bonus IHG points as reperation.)

Almost back to normal

Reviewed 15 september, 2021

I am currently spending a week in the hotel, each visit things restart/open. The pool/spa is open again (by appointment) two nights ago turndown service started being done . The hotel is in the middle of refurbishment so there can be some noise, the peek I saw through an open door is very nice so looking forward to it being finished. The staff have been as usual ,warm ,friendly and helpful. The only downside is they cannot/will not make a bloody mary in the bar I look forward to being back before too long. The deluxe rooms are well worth the extra over the standard ones

At the heart of the city

Reviewed 21 august, 2021

Intercontinental Berlin is located right at the centre of town next to the Berlin Zoo and Tiergarden Park and minutes away from the city's shopping street. It is about half an hour from the airport, BER, depending on traffic and cost about €50 in a taxi. The hotel has a modern design and the lobby area is big and bright with both a restaurant and a bar. They have a nice Spa with an indoor pool and a well equipped gym. The rooms are big with good size bathrooms and plenty of storage space and great amenities. Breakfast is fantastic with an extensive variety of food, however it is quite pricey at €28 per person. Overall a very nice hotel for both shopping and exploring Berlin, with a nice Spa option after a long day. If you are a IHG Ambassador you get nice upgrades and late checkout.
