Hotel needs to be condemned

Let me start off by saying I've never walked out of a room I've booked before...until Black Forest. Drove up to big bear from chino hills to escape the heat. When we arrived in the evening, we first noticed the sketchy stairs that where hella warped, serious hazard. Like for reals, you all need to get that fixed before you get sued or condemned. Then we got to our room, the largest spa suite (lucky us) and we noticed the funky smell. Like a musty mildew and the old ass carpet, just gross. The room was hot as hell, no air conditioning with a spa tub we weren't about to jump into or even try to take advantage of which was the whole point of booking here. The room was filthy, outdated, disgusting having three queen size beds sporadically placed in one large room, with Decor from the 60s. The 60s called and want their nasty bedding back. Check out pics of cum stained sheets from other guests. It looked like a bad porno waiting to happen. The bathroom smell made it obvious they have a sewage problem too. As we left immediately to get a refund and drive back down the hill, our neighbors were in the lobby complaining about a power outage. When the guy at the front desk asked what was wrong with our room and I explained, he said, "what do you expect it's big bear." I replied that I've lived in big bear before, and wanted to say the motel 6 is better than this dump but I kept my cool. I gave one star for the fact that I was at least able to get a full refund. (Update: those jerks didn't refund me and then hung up on us when we called back this morning to find out why we were still charged. Now I'm having to dispute with my bank. $425 for two nights could be much better spent than on this place. It sucks because I've been wanting to stay here since I was a kid. Don't bother, don't waste your time or money. Motel6 is cleaner, nicer, SAFER, more comfy and more affordable. I wish I had read the yelp reviews prior to booking. Bed bug city! I'd rather drive two hours back home than stay here. That's pretty bad!
We are following up with the City of Big Bear, Building and Safety (my husband is an inspector and is going to report them for safety concerns) as well as local yokels since we both lived in Big Bear and know people. They messed with the wrong guests!!! This place needs to be condemned for the health and safety of people.

This is a very rustic place! We went for Christmas 2020. It was a Great location. Our Cabin was cute but, outdated and bed linen was tattered but, clean. This place is pet friendly and great for family fun or couples get away. Carpet wasn’t clean, hot tub fixtures were falling apart. Curtains in the bathroom were opaque. There was no bar or hangers to store clothing... two table lamps didn’t work. Heater worked perfectly and the fireplace made the environment super romantic. Central location to all the shopping and extra curricular activities you could desire! Close to Big Bear lake and several restaurants.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! We booked a room here less than 24 hours ago but due to a COVID positive person, we had to cancel. We call to cancel the reservation and were told we’d receive a refund. However, they also mentioned that they’re withholding $50 because the front desk employee (named Chris) invested THIRTY MINUTES to book our reservation over the phone. Was this communicated to us before the fact? No. Was it posted online? No. The $50 was retaliation for cancelling 5 days prior to check-in. What’s embarrassing is the oblivion to his own incompetence. After a one minute phone call kindly asking for some understanding, he rudely hangs up on my boyfriend. So he calls Chris back and he hangs up on his again. Needless to say I’m relieved we didn’t stay here as customer service is clearly nonexistent. Other reviews confirm this and also emphasize how dirty these rooms are.
Takeaway: the price is not worth it!

We stayed for three nights. We had three rooms so that our family (ten of us) could enjoy a vacation together. It was clean, comfortable and had fun destinations close by. We were about 70 feet from the street, in the main lodge. Street traffic was extremely busy and noisy, but we did not have any problem sleeping. If you wish for more quiet and privacy, a cabin would be a better choice than the lodge. Our room 54 was large enough for all 10 of to get together one night for a family gathering. All rooms at the lodge have balconies, and all cabins have private patios. The ice machine gave us plenty of ice for ice chests, and staff was nice..
