A good traditional lodge, they are trying hard
Opinión escrita el 9 de Julio de 2021
We arrived on July 5th, right after the holiday. All of Big Bear had been overrun with tourists. The following week was ok, short lines, not much traffic. The Noon Lodge was trying to catch up. The pool needed cleaning the day we arrived, but was clean the following day. The wifi was offline, but they rebooted it when we asked.
The cabins are different sizes, and we were surprised to find ours had a full fridge, and stove. It also had a small microwave. There are three large gas barbecues on a first come first serve basis on the grounds. The BBQ’s did not have accurate temperature gauges, so check your food frequently. The picnic tables and chairs were nice.
There were several fire pits and we made smores a couple of times. The staff lights the fires around sunset each night.
Note that this is a redone old lodge. The water temp drifted slowly up in the shower and could get quite hot. There is no air conditioning, but even though the temperature was in the high 80s most days, it was comfortable at night. There are old school gas heaters, which look like cold swimmers and skiers would really like.
There are adult sized bikes which you can borrow. Often you can borrow a kayak, but the water level was too low when we visited. Next to the pool is a bocci ball area.
Pretty much all of Big Bear is within a few minutes of the lodge. We ate at the Country Kitchen a couple of times. If you have kids, there is plenty to do. The Visitor Center told us about a scavenger hunt called Urban Adventure Quest, which is in many cities including Big Bear. It costs $30 total for a group of 2-4 and takes 1 to 1.5 hours of walking and problem solving near downtown.
Overall, we like the place and would come back.
Disappointing but liveable

Pros: Outdoor living space was nice.
Cons: Floors were FILTHY. I couldn't stand it, so I took a hand towel and mopped down all the walking surfaces.
The fridge was ancient. One of the kinds that had a freezer box inside the main fridge. Only had one rack , one drawer, and no rails on the door racks to keep food from falling out.
There were some Towel hangers that had been broken off and were missing.
The lighting is stupid. There's no shower lights, you just get the residual light from the main bathroom light. No kitchen counter lights, so I was cutting veggies in my shadow. And lastly, I couldn't find thr switch for the kitchen light, it was on the inside of a post.
The 1+loft pictures seem intentionally misleading. A floor plan would help, but I suspect they wouldn't sell these rooms at the price they do if you saw what you were getting upfront. The 1+loft is an upstairs area split in half, the enclosed part is the bedroom, the loft is the left over space.
Theres a newer..not new.. grill behind the main office that we used...because the other two weren't working.
There is only one dumpster and 3 small recycle bins, the trash was overflowing, when we got in.
Walls are either not insulated or poorly insulated. It was 90° in the cabin at night when we were trying to put our kids down. No AC during the summer in big bear should be criminal.
The best Christmas present for 2020!
Opinión escrita el 27 de Decembre de 2020
My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay (over Christmas) at Noon Lodge. We booked this accommodation back in the summer anticipating the pandemic being in full force and not being able to fly home to see our families.
It honestly was the best decision we made!
Upon entering the resort the grounds were exceptionally warm and welcoming with numerous spots to sit and relax. We stayed in cabin number 6 which is a one bedroom with loft. The cabin was perfect for the two of us, exceptionally cosy with everything we needed. We took our Christmas decorations to decorate and we got great use out of the fireplace. We both found the bed to be really comfortable and even though we brought our own pillows (based on reviews to do so here) we actually didn't use them. One thing we did need was an extension cord as the plus sockets are limited and in random places but we were grateful that the lobby had one for us to use.
We were so lucky to have snow on Christmas Eve which slowly melted away Christmas afternoon, making the whole complex look even prettier.
We did not do take part in any winter sports/actives due to wanting to stay safe however, we did go on a beautiful bike ride at Alpine bike path.
If you are looking for a cosy getaway (especially during the pandemic) I would recommend this accommodation. Check in and check out were a breeze as no interaction is required, All other guests we saw wore face masks and the fire pits and fire places were almost always open.
Thank you Noon Lodge for making our Christmas great regardless of the circumstances of 2020! :)
Really cute property at a great location

This is a really cute property situated on Noon Lake. The cabin was very quaint, but I would definitely agree with other reviewers that the walls are paper thin. We could hear every word of the other cabin's conversation last night along with snoring. The only other drawback of the cabin is the water pressure in the shower; it ebbs and flows and goes from hot to cold. Be sure not to turn on the sink when someone is using the shower. The beds were comfy and except for those two things, I enjoyed the cabin.
The property is really cute. I enjoyed the outdoor fire pits and fireplace. They also have a pool (which was green with algae) and other games like Shuffleboard and Bags.
Like another reviewer wrote, they should give you a number to text if you need anything. I luckily ran into the front desk person and was able to get another couple of towels, but their is no help if you need it.
All and all is was a good getaway for a couple of nights and could be great with a couple of tweaks.
