This is now a Sleep Inn under renovation. Covid adjustments to breakfast. Very noisy side by freeway but we were moved by helpful manager. This will look fresh when completed and south facing is fairly quiet. Most hotels seem to place discount site customers in least desirable rooms.

I really don't like to write a review like this as times are tough for the hotel business during covid, however, if I was considering this hotel, I would want to know. I was in Birmingham for two plus weeks and stayed at three of the hotels in the Colonnade area. The Country Inn & Suites, by far, was the least safe. As another reviewer mentioned, the check-in process took very long -- about 5 times longer than any other hotel and was frustratingly incapable. The clerk seemed confused and unsure of how to do his job. I can deal with that but it was foreshadowing to the rest of the experience.
Most importantly, Covid precautions were not taken seriously other than the chair and table barriers barricading the front desk (very unfriendly) and in front of the breakfast room where no breakfast was served. It looked like some kids set up a fort with tables and chairs and didn't clean up. It was very odd. I wish I took a photo. Staff didn't wear masks (although required), check-in was not contactless, and mask wearing not enforced for guests. This hotel needs a thorough scrubbing and fogging and then a renovation, at least a fresh coat of paint. It is dirty. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE if you want to feel safe. There are 5 other hotels to choose from next to this one. I have stayed at many Country Inn & Suites across the country and this was one of the worst. It's as if the hotel management and staff were not trained on how to operate a hotel safely with customer service, integrity and cleanliness.

When we checked in, the guy checking us in had the personality of a rock. He didn't smile, say much, and didn't respond when spoken to. Seemed like he was annoyed by our presence. He also seemed to struggle with the check in. Good thing we were the only ones checking in.
Our room was clean. But it was on the interstate side of the building and could hear trucks all night.

Friendly, professional desk staff. Room was very clean. Bed was super comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. Common areas around the hotel were dusty the first night of my stay, hopefully that means housekeeping is spending more of their time sanitizing the rooms.
My only disappointment was that the website says pre-wrapped breakfast foods would be available but there was no breakfast offered. The price of the room was reduced to reflect lack of ammenities. Overall a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

group function so we got a block of rooms. check in person was unable to deal with any issues. manager was out and didnt return calls or seek to resolve issues, which included : rooms in poor repair at check in, reports by others in my group of rodents, insects and vermin in their rooms. General dingy decor and outdated furnishings. final straw was no breakfast, supposedly due to Covid, but wasnt mentioned during reservations or on website. For the same money, you can get a much better experience at any of the several competitors nearby.
