Overall the stay was great, lovely shower comfortable bed room was a great size. Lovely air conditioned room, was staying in c002 In a private corridor with just 2 others rooms! In the bathroom around the extractor fan was a load of dust around it, and they charged a pre-payment for the room now sure why when I had already paid for it?! Paid it and get it back within 5-7 days seems pointless really and annoyed me.
Would recommend to stay here anytime you stay in Birmingham good stay!!
Just to add I was Gutted the outside terrace has moved it was lovely on the roof looking over the City, now it’s quite a bad looking afterthought on the side of the building not really in keeping with the rest of the hotel
Perfectly located for New Street station

I needed a last minute overnight stay, close to New Street station, and this place fit the bill nicely. However, when I got there, I started to doubt whether I’d ever get inside! I arrived late and trying to find where to enter the hotel was not straightforward, due to road works and barriers directly outside the hotel which meant the front door was inaccessible. I couldn’t see any signs to indicate another entrance and wandered around for quite a few minutes trying to figure out how to get inside which wasn’t ideal in the dark. Once inside, though, front desk dealt with my reservation efficiently and I was soon in my room (#301) which was large, reassuringly clean and well appointed.
The bed was comfortable, there was lots of hot water and plenty of towels. The only niggle was the silly positioning of the electrical socket near the mirror. In their wisdom, the electricians had fixed the socket directly above, and virtually touching, the desk surface, with no gap between the desk surface and the socket. Consequently, when I came to use the hairdryer, the flex on the hairdryer prevented the plug from going into the socket. Admittedly, it wasn’t a major issue but it was irritating as it meant I had to use another socket, where there was no mirror, when drying my wet hair.
This is a run-of-the-mill establishment and whilst it’s not the sort of hotel where I’d want to spend more than an odd night, for what I needed (just a couple of minutes away from New Street), I was quite happy with what I got for my money (£60 for one night). Apart from the confusion caused by the lack of signs indicating the entrance, and the socket issue, which is why I’ve docked one star, I had no complaints with my stay.
No hot water- but don't worry about it!!! Breakfast the worst you can possibly imagine.... AVOID

This dilapidated building in the equally dilapidated Birmingham has been carefully refurbished. However, it now looks like a youth hostel with a party-like clientele to match. Each room has massive plastic numbers on it adding to the budget look. The youth hostel feel continues when they tell you the water is a little tepid. In fact, it's cold, so they lie at the front desk. Apart from that, the suite had only one gown and slippers for two people- I guess you share them- there wasn't enough coffee to enjoy the tassimo- the parquet is poorly installed and can give you little nicks on your bare feet- the installation of the bathroom is shoddy- you cannot use the taps properly on the sink as the mirror frame blocks them. The view outside is 1950s Soviet bunker style. As if this were not bad enough, the breakfast is possibly the worst you will experience in a British chain hotel. Travelodge may be hideous, but they have a great breakfast choice. This one- it's basically a British fry-up or nothing. A few slices of limp British bread- no French bread or continental choice- some fruit cocktail- cold meats? Some stale slices on a saucer- the breakfast choice is shocking and the room is cramped. It truly is hideous- do not purchase the breakfast, I've warned you. What a dreadful hotel this truly is. Holiday Inn plummeting in quality. I'd recommend the Marriott or some other upscale new ones in Brum- if you really have to go there....
Definitely worth the the price - very luxurious. Absolutely loved the stay.

Work on stuff

Staff don’t really have a clue what’s going on. Got told luggage to the room, then told no because they don’t know which our luggage is…even though we gave our name with it and our name is on the reservation… partner went down to grab the bags, he got told he couldn’t have them as we didn’t have a ticket, which we didn’t get? He had to describe the bags and what was in them…seems a bit invasive. Was told we could charge stuff to the room which is why a deposit was taken on arrival, then told by bar we were wrong and couldn’t do that. Reception confirmed on check out you can do it… communication just seems poor. We rang for Pillows, we got towels. Had to ask again for pillows. Breakfast was poor food, stuff always empty, staff just slow.
I work in a hotel, I know it’s rubbish and I know it’s busy at the moment but it’s your job to know what you’re doing and do it. Don’t argue or embarass a customer because of YOUR mistakes.
Would only stay again if everywhere else fully booked.
