Better than expected

We stayed as a holiday of 9 ages from 86 to 1. Car parking is free but limited on a 1st come 1st served basis. We all had rooms on the 1st floor and there is a working lift. One good idea we thought is there are telephones in the corridors to contact reception. My Dad did have to use this when his card key didn't open his door and a member of staff was with him within minutes. Each morning you book in for your tea at either 17.30, 18.30 or 19.30. All food is buffet style and can be a little chaotic but can not fault the actual food. There is a small menu available for lunch in the bar area (extra charge) and we did use this facility and again can not fault the food. Mum had soup, Dad had steak pudding and chips, me and my partner had cheese and pickle sandwiches. The rooms are basic, but clean enough. There seemed to be many bar/reception rooms but on our visit there was only one open. This room was off reception and nowhere near big enough to take the number of guests. There is a low level small stage and a female singer on in the evenings, which we really enjoyed. We found all the staff to be polite and friendly and we all enjoyed our short stay. We would definitely consider returning for another short break.

Lovely hotel for a tight budget.

For a budget hotel this was good value considering it was a 2 night stay including New Year's Eve. The hotels stained glass and traditional wood decor are beautiful and the carpets are well maintained. We were very generously given an early check in even though it wasn't pre requested. The rooms need slightly better maintained/upgraded but overall are clean and tidy. We did however request our room be given a run over with a hoover and that either didn't happen or their hoovers aren't very good. Breakfast room is a bit of a squeeze in areas even though we tried 2 completely different times to eat. A good selection for breakfast although not the best sausages (grizly) or fresh orange juice (flavourless). Tram stop right outside so very convenient for transport or a 20 min walk to Tower etc. Staff very friendly. I'd recommend for those on a budget.

New year

Worst hotel ever stayed at windows stuffed with newspaper as all broken and filthy toilet pan all stained never heard of bleach beds ancient holes in duvet covers duvets need renewing new curtains but I had to stand on bed and hang them correctly. Free tea coffee and cake on new year's day but milk out too long so on the turn asked for fresh finally got it but only after manager and barman argued milk had just been changed when I knew it hadn't. Manners cost nothing the customer is always right and we're you not taught not to check your elders. No children should be allowed at new year functions nor should they be allowed to run around hotel for an accident waiting to happen clearly no health and safety rules adhered to at this hotel defiantly no stars here

Couldn't find fault

We checked for mobility access direct with the hotel, Sarah couldn't have been more helpful. Clean rooms, excellent breakfast, evening entertainment, perfect base for a break in Blackpool. Excellent value for money, wheelchair and scooter hired locally as suggested by the hotel. Staff were all friendly polite and efficient. Thank you
