No frills / no hot water

Reviewed 16 january, 2022

Great location! Bed had clean sheets, rest of room didn't have clean anything. No hot water in the morning - room service came to confirm shower was not working then disappeared. Told manager at checkout who said a broken shower was 'impossible'! He then came upstairs to confirm shower was not working. Said I should have reported this last night. Showed him thick dust on bedside table. Wiped his sleeve across and confirmed it was dusty. Said I should have reported it last night (he's right tbf). Described how walking barefoot left us with black soles, he grimly replied that the hotel was full of black souls. 'Hotel' is a generous term for this kind of laminate-floored, ceiling-tiled, harrowing accommodation. Only consider staying if you have very low standards / are planning to let yourself down in a transgressive way / are fresh out of jail and looking for a halfway house.

We arrived here for one night due to seeing a show, but it should have said that you needed to make a £20 deposit for a remote for TV on the website but it didn't. No heating and no hot water, fire alarm went of at 1.30am in morning was woken up, very annoying guests as well, but brilliant buffet breakfast. But will try again in the new year.

2 day stay

On arrival we were warmly greeted however it looked rather shabby in the entrance. The stair carpet leading to our room was filthy and dangerous with loose threads hanging off . On entering the room it smelt clean and bleachy but don’t be fooled ! The bedding and towels were spotless I must admit , it’s a shame the rest of the room wasn’t . It was freezing, the radiator was not on and on our second evening we hadn’t any hot water for the shower. The staff did rectify this problem. Breakfast was ok , buffet style full English . The hospitality service was non existent, our bed wasn’t made , no change of towels or coffee replenishment . The whole place is very tired and in need of TLC , it needs a good clean . Don’t think we will be returning again. On a positive note the staff were friendly and helpful apart from one barman when I asked for a slice of lemon in my gin and tonic to which he jokingly replied “ the only f…..g lemon here is me “ luckily I didn’t take offence but some people may . The photo’s say it all

Daniel Rankin Had a wonderful time great Friendly Welcoming Staff. The staff were very friendly and interesting especially the Night time Bartender. The bed was very comfy only downside no draught beer. Stayed two nights from 26 November -28 November 2021.
