Modern hotel, great service
I hadn’t been impressed with the Springhill chain in the past, but this new hotel definitely changed that. Great modern decor and the rooms with the west elm furnishings were warm and inviting. I love that the rooms aren’t the typical hotel layout that has the bathroom near the entry door. Service was fantastic and everyone I came across was friendly and knowledgeable. They also managed the restricted pool/gym access very well. I appreciated the breakfast to-go bags with the restrictions on indoor dining. Plenty of restaurants in the area and the nearby Summit Park is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend.
Nice property
We needed a place to crash after being on the road all day. This place fit the bill, clean, comfortable and affordable. We watched a little TV (using my clean phone as the remote, nice!), cleaned up a bit in the modern bathroom and slept great in the comfortable Marriott bed. The staff was nice and friendly. The COVID breakfast consisted of a bagged breakfast consisting of a pre-packaged muffin, a NutriGrain bar, an apple and a bottle of water (actually perfect under the circumstance). It was a little far off of the interstate (maybe a mile), but it was very quiet and surrounded by other hotels.
Very clean, but COVID enforcement lacking
I've stayed at this property multiple times, and have always found it to be very clean, the staff to be so courteous and helpful. It's why I keep coming back when I'm in Ohio. But we are in tough times for traveling, because of COVID, and that is why I'm writing this review. The hotel was, as always, spotless, and the staff was constantly working to keep it clean and sanitized. Signage regarding wearing of masks in public areas and maintaining physical distance, keeping to 2 people in the elevators, etc., was prominent, and hand sanitizer was available in high-traffic areas. What disturbed me, however, was the lack of enforcement by staff of those COVID policies with the guests themselves. Each night of my stay, guests were gathering both in the lobby and outside, unmasked, in close proximity. For the lobby, though the groups may have been smaller, because guests have to walk through that area to get to the market, or interact with the front desk, guests were having to walk through groups of unmasked people. On one occasion, there was a large group of young kids (looked like there for a tournament) who were all seated together eating lunch in the lobby. Unmasked. That's a concern for those of us who are not traveling for pleasure, but out of necessity, and who happen to be higher-risk. When I expressed a concern to the staff about that, rather than acknowledging my concern, I was told that "the kids were eating and you can't do that through a mask." Later that same evening, adults were congregating in the lobby (unmasked) and drinking while the kids were playing unsupervised (and unmasked) in the lobby, the elevators, and hallways. I completely understand the difficult position hotels are in right now, believe me. You are trying to bring in travelers to your establishments, because the industry is hurting as a whole, so you're trying to make your guests feel comfortable when they travel, like nothing has changed. So I understand some natural amount of reluctance on the part of the staff, perhaps, to challenge guests who are not respecting the safety policies Marriott has touted on its website--who wants to be nagged by hotel staff? But for the rest of us, who have been loyal Marriott customers for decades, who believed Mr. Marriott when he said in his video that COVID would be taken seriously, and that every attempt to make guests feel safe in their hotels when we have to travel during this pandemic, trusting your assurances that we can do so safely is paramount. Sadly, in this regard, I found my stay to be very uncomfortable. Not because the staff was discourteous, or because the hotel lacked in some way any level of cleanliness--that was not at all the case--but because fellow guests were NOT respecting the posted guidelines, and staff was either unable or reluctant to act to enforce them. One last suggestion: for the outdoor area (which is where my family gathered, to avoid congregating indoors), might I suggest a hand sanitizer unit there, as well as signage regarding limits on the number of people in the area at one time? I appreciate more than this review might suggest what a difficult job your staff is doing right now. They are putting themselves at risk for us travelers, and they are in a difficult position when faced with guests who don't take COVID seriously. But I will not be traveling again during the pandemic, and I certainly would think twice, if necessity forced my hand to do so again, about staying in ANY hotel where I felt my SAFETY and well-being as a guest were not prioritized. I did not feel they were during this stay, and it was a deep disappointment--not at all what I'm accustomed to experiencing during my previous stays at this hotel.
Very nice hotel, enjoyed our stay
We had a family of five stay for three nights total (3 of the five only stayed the final night). Clean, quiet hotel with friendly staff. All covid-19 safeguards are in place. No room service during this time. Free breakfast during covid consists of a "sack" meal with a breakfast bar, an orange, and a pre-wrapped muffin. We didn't get a chance to use the indoor pool, but others were. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here in the future!
Absolutely Amazing Property, Minus One Sofa Bed
Wow, just wow! This place was amazing! We were going to Cincinnati for the weekend, and wanted a cheap, but clean hotel near Kenwood, so we ended up here! The staff were as kind as can be! For the most part, Coronavirus was handled well, and every thing was spotless! The rooms were amazing offering a separate living room and bedroom area! The bathroom was pretty nice and easily had the best shower I've had anywhere! Two small notes, the sofa bed is a tiny twin that roles out onto the floor below the couch and isn't comfortable! The other note is the poor breakfast situation, though I'll let that slide as they would usually have a full one! Overall, after a weak introduction to the Springhill Suites brand by there West Warwick,RI location, I'm happy to say that this one went above and beyond my expectations and I'd be more than happy to come back here, or to another Springhill Suites property!
