Great old room
Plenty of room. Clean comfy beds & linen. We loved the old building. But with that comes the squeaky floors, sharing the floor with happy party goers, & outside private bathrooms. We loved the atmosphere, the friendly help, & the gorgeous old lift. Lots of pastries & fruit in communal foyer to help yourself at any time. They just need air conditioning, or supply more fans. Ask for extra fan when booking perhaps 😊
Pretty Nice
The address is correct but have to look for the the Panorama hotel sign on the outside of the building. You need to go to the top floor and check-in and they will take you down to a different floor where you will stay. It was a nice place. Large room. Coffee whenever you needed/wanted. Breakfast was your basic continental but nice. If you Google map the location and use street view you will see a lot of graffiti which may turn you off, don't, if I recall correctly, there was very little if any when there (Sep 2016). We stayed in a room with a private bathroom that looked onto the street, very nice.
Not overly impressed
Honestly I expected more Had I seen photos of the rooms before hand I probably would not have booked it The Wifi wasnt great (didnt work at all my second day there) however to be fair I didnt mention this to reception so they didnt have a chance to fix it It was comfortable enough but no air-con & the fan was very noisy as it wasnt 100% stable so had to put something under it so I could sleep The bathroom smelt moldy/musky which I really couldn't work out coz thats the newest part of the room A new shower head is needed as that one squirts in your face when you are washing your body Because of the smell even though it was clean I felt like it was dirty The tiles on the floor were coming up & the furniture could do with some updating Breakfast was VERY basic If you want something basic & cheap also being in the heart of town this is great For me they were all kind of little things that added up However the staff was lovely & very welcoming All in all just needs some renovations
Heart of Bologna
The B&B is right in the heart of Bologna, a few minutes walk from the city center, so close its even worth to go back to leave a shopping bag. Parking is a nightmare, as in Italy and the city is a huge pedestrian zone, but the staff are very helpful and I managed to park (in a legal spot) just off the hotel, once you are parked, don't move! Next to the B&B there is a lot of shopping possibilities, and I suggest a nearby fruit and vegetable market with great products and prices that do not aim at tourists. The rooms are spacious and well ventilated, the furniture shows some age and the parquette squeaks, but it all adds to the charm. The staff, sig. Lisa, is very friendly and helpful, speaks good English, too. There is always available coffee and tea as well as fruit and snacks. In all great B&B. I have only one suggestion. I know Italians traditionally have a coffee and maybe a croissant for breakfast, but continental, and British tourists are used to a hefty morning meal with say eggs, bacon, butter, ham, and the like. So, it would be nice if there were a salty breakfast option too. In all, Bologna and Alle Torri are great, and I can recommend it highly.
Great stay and time
The Alle Torri is located right in the centre of the town a great location for everything. It's a bit of a walk from the train station about 30 mins (unless you find the correct bus 25 I think). There is a bus stop just outside around the corner of the building for buses or Aerobus to aerport. You are only 5 mins walk to the Piazza Maggiore and The Fountain of Neptune and 5 more mins to The Two Towers of Bologna. You are surrounded by great restaurant and fast food outlets for whatever you desire for eating and surrounded by shops if you prefer to spend your time shopping you won't be disappointed. All in all a great place to stay and great value for money. Will definitely return here again on my next visit and will recommend to friends and family 5 out of 5
