Lovely 3 days in bungalow over the water

Reviewed 5 april, 2022

We loved this location, had an east-facing bungalow, saw the sunset each morning. The glass floor piece was very small, a gimmick really, but we did snorkel off our patio. Wonderful view, breakfast was great, restaurant had lovely food, decent prices. Staff were very helpful. Very close to Matira Beach, walkable for sure, and could walk to other restaurants, stores, etc. Great price for the location!

Beach Bungalow is the Way To Go!

Reviewed 20 march, 2022

We came from Tahiti and flew Air Tahiti, who also provided the boat shuttle to the main island in Bora Bora, Vaitape, included in the ticket cost. Maitai then had a taxi there waiting for us to take us to the hotel, about 15 or so minutes. Stayed here for 4 nights in a beach bungalow (Aloha 10), which was a perfect location for us. One bungalow on the right of us, none on the left. Kayaks directly out front for use at any time the plage workers were there to help. Check in across the street was very friendly and hospitable, and we received beautiful lei upon arrival. Porter carried our bags to our beautiful bungalow which I believe looks just like the over the water rooms on the interior. Very clean room with no issues for us at all. Not run down, and are exactly as pictured online (which was fantastic, as I have stayed in other bungalows in FP that do not look like what they advertise). Sliding doors opened up to our back lanai on the sand, and 10 more feet to the beach/water. We had chairs and a table on the lanai to enjoy our cocktails, pupu, and coffee, and lounge chairs at the water's edge at our disposal. Electric kettle allowed us to cook ramen for snacks and make our own coffee. The mini fridge kept our duty free wine and beers icy cold, and our leftover dinners. (Get duty free in Tahiti BEFORE leaving for Bora Bora, as liquor is VERY expensive here.) The bungalows seemed full and also the over the water rooms, but no one really was at the private beach, which was fantastic, just occasional snorkelers. It was very quiet on the beach, and a pier is right there if you need a water taxi or to be picked up for an excursion. We could snorkel around the over the water rooms or go for swims around the area. Took the kayak out one day up and down the coast, which was gorgeous and fun. Kayaked over a big ray at one point :) We had a sailing excursion one day, which picked us up at the pier out front. Very convenient. If I could have one alert- it would be to prepare for the road noise around 6am when people are scootering or driving cars to go to work during "rush hour". The first morning it was jarring, but actually when we put earplugs in it wasn't too bad, and we got used to it by day 2 and it didn't even bother us at all. But prepare for your first morning, as you won't be able to sleep in. The advantage I guess is that the sunrises are ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING- so open those curtains and watch from your bed- you are going to freak out at how insanely beautiful it is!!!! We loved our stay here, have only good things to say, and would stay here again in this same bungalow!! Maruuru roa Maitai!

Excellent value - our second stay there

Reviewed 10 march, 2022

We stayed for 10 days the first time, and 2 weeks this time. The location on the island makes walking to restaurants and the white sand beach very easy. The overwater bungalows are the best deal in Bora Bora with the added bonus that the noise from the road doesn’t reach there.

Maitai resort

My wife and I went here for our honeymoon, and it was such an amazing time. We were able to stay in an overwater bungalow for a very affordable price. The staff was very friendly and the views were spectacular. They provide snorkeling gear and kayaks for the guests. They also provide breakfast every morning, I recommend asking for an omelet. It’s not on the menu, but they will make it for you and it’s delicious. The restaurant on their property is really good as well. I decided to order the bolognese, which is kind of weird to order when you’re in Bora Bora, but it was so good that I ended up ordering it again the next day. There is a market right down the road to get snacks and alcohol. But just know, they don’t sell alcohol on Sundays. There was also a fun restaurant within walking distant to the hotel called Bora Bora Beach Club, we went there multiple times during our stay. Our room was really cool, when you first walk in, the coffee table is basically a window into the ocean. There is a nice big patio with a private deck and a latter into the water. You can just jump off the deck and swim to the beach. I would definitely come back to this resort.

Charming resort with amazing hospitality in a great locoation

My husband and I were only here for one night in the King room with garden view and we wished we could have stayed longer. We met at the ferry terminal and were taken via the hotel transfer to our hotel. Right away when we entered the hotel we were greeted with beautiful flower necklaces and a refreshing welcome drink. We were shown our rooms that were very clean and decorated with Polynesian accents. The lush garden throughout the resort was beautiful to walk through. The hotel had its own private beach and complimentary use of snorkels that we used to see the many varieties of fish in their man-made coral reefs. It was really cool the process they used to make the coral reefs. We were also able to watch a traditional Polynesian dance that evening which was a very cool experience. This resort is very close walking distance to Maitira beach and to local shops. The friendly and attentive staff definitely made us wish we were able to stay longer and the little departure gift was well-appreciated. I think this is a perfect resort for those who are budget conscious but wants a charming well-maintained hotel that is close to many restaurants and local beaches. The only issue is the walls were thin so we could hear our neighbours singing (good thing they weren't terrible singers).
