In Bordeaux, in the Grands Hommes district, the Hotel Continental turns into the Konti. Welcome to a luxuriant cottage with the relaxed atmosphere of a guest house. Oscar Ono from Maison Numéro 20, had fun mixing architecture and period decorative elements with an environment of eclectic objects. As a result, rebirth from the original Le Coq Hardi building, the Bordeaux Brasserie that in 1912 was the meeting place for good society after the theatres with its ballroom and hotel rooms. On a green, grey and celadon background, the lounges alternate breakfast rooms and informal meeting areas on th...

Weekend in Bordeaux

Reviewed 4 october, 2021

Weekend in Bordeaux: what an amazing city and a real pleasure to stay at this hotel. Gorgeous decor, super friendly and helpful team. Special mention for the lad on reception (with the English father - sorry didn't get your name!) who was fantastic. Everything was spot on - the location, cleanliness, facilities. We won't hesitate to rebook this hotel when we return.

Corona visit

The hotel is really not 4 stars. Tv hangs crooked, a lot of noise from the hallway at night, people not really friendly etc. The breakfast buffet was closed due to the pandemic so there was breakfast in bed (so called). Breakfast in a bag without a table in the room so try to enjoy that. Plastic cutlery, paper coffee cups, just not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. More like a 3 star Ibis or something. Not why you pay 150 euros for a night. I’m not going back there.

Enjoyed our stay! Great location!

Hotel Konti is situated on a lovely quiet road but within walking distance (or electric scooter distance!) of most of the main attractions and shops. The hotel is located in the fancy part of town, with lots of nice boutiques, restaurants and brassieres on your doorstep. There was a great restaurant right next to the hotel which we made use of almost every night for pre dinner drinks. The hospitality staff and locals in Bordeaux are incredibly welcoming and friendly, and this really topped off our experience of the city. The Grand Hommes mall and Carrefour supermarket are at the end of the street too. The staff on the reception desk were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were happy with our room. The first room we were given unfortunately lacked natural light which left me feeling very claustrophobic, but the wonderful lady at reception promptly moved us after we explained, into a wonderful, light and airy room facing the street. Exactly what we wanted! It may be worth stating your room preferences when booking online to ensure you get a room that fulfils your needs. The rooms are small but this seems to be the usual with hotel rooms in Bordeaux. The hotel and rooms are very well decorated with modern amenities. The wardrobe/storage space in our room was quite limited so we were only able to hang up crinkle prone items whilst leaving the rest in our suitcase, which in turn made the floor space even more limited but it wasn’t a huge issue. The bathroom was great, with a powerful shower and again, very modern and chic. They supply body/hair wash and hand soap/lotion. We had a wonderful balcony which overlooked a fantastic view of the sunset, which was very special! My only slight issue is that the walls seem to be somewhat thin. Granted, I could never hear our neighbours speaking, but we could sometimes hear plugs being plugged into the wall behind us whilst sleeping, furniture being moved around and doors being slammed (they’re loud!). This again didn’t affect us too much but just a worth mentioning in case this is something that would seriously affect your stay. Because we visited during COVID-19, housekeeping was limited. They changed bins and towels every day, but only turned over the beds once (on the third day) during our 5 day stay. The receptionist explained this when we checked in, and we were completely fine with it. We were left a lovely half bottle of red wine in the room which was a lovely touch, and you have tea/coffee making amenities in available in your room too. I have realised that they offered a coffee and cake happy hour, but we forgot to make use of it when we arrived! Maybe it’s worth reception going through these perks when guests are checking in to remind them of what the hotel offers? The Receptionist was able to book us a taxi at check out for €50 to the airport which was handy, as finding a taxi directly within the vicinity of the hotel may prove to be difficult. They can also book you one ready for your arrival at the airport direct to the hotel, though there are plenty outside arrivals which charge the same price. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would return to Hotel Konti if we were on the same budget. The hotel itself feels very luxurious and the receptionists are lovely. The location is perfect, you feel like you’ve got the best of both worlds being situated on a quiet street but only 10 or so minutes away from the buzzing Rue St Cathrine and surrounding areas. It was satisfying coming back to Hotel Konti every night and we were most definitely sad to leave when the time came. Thank you for a very pleasant stay! X

gatsby feels!

around 35eu from the train station, but easily accessible by tram. close to restaurants and a big carrefour supermarket at the end of the street. happy time from 3-11pm where you can have as much minichoux donuts and canelles and tea and fresh bean-to-cup coffee to your heart's content. breakfast does not change but enough to fill your tummy for a walk around town. room 203 - room size is good, no fridge, earth colors theme, soft lighting. safe in the room which was not anchored and nearly fell on my foot so we did not use it as it was pointless, could easily be carried out c",). beside the street, very noisy at night with the bins being emptied and people passing by at dawn. we did not mind it at first as we read a review that once the windows are closed, the noise is shut away but it was not the case for us that first night. we were moved into room 508. welcome anniversary balloons greeted us which was a very nice touch, they do try their best to make their guests HAPPY! room was smaller than the previous, and bathroom also small but it was the perfect as it is in the corner of the top floor and there is no street noise whatsoever. hot water took a long time to come out and we have to leave it on for about 20 minutes running. shampoo/ body soap in a dispenser. they give you a small bottle of red wine for each day you do not have your room cleaned, this is for stays of 2 or more nights. another nice touch to save the environment. THANK YOU GREGORY and team, you are the best!
