We thouroughly enjoyed our stay here once again we only stayed 1 night bed and breakfast and couldnt fault it we found the room clean and tidy and comfortable bathroom was also tidy , tea and coffee facilitys in the room were ok we needed more milk and it was no problem at all got it straight away , great choice for breakfast on offer plenty for everybody and hot food was piping hot , we ate at the grill on the hill on the evening the food was lovely .
We found the staff very polite and welcoming , we choose this hotel for the location visiting family as it is ideal for us and very peaceful to , its my wife and myselfs 3rd stay now , and my 5th as i stay for golf weekends here , it is nice to see people returning and things picking up.only thing i would say is the bar could be better stocked drinks wise and nibbles/snacks .but anorher great stay.we did not use the pool this time but it looks great still.

As everyone else says, decor is horrendously dated. One teabag each in the room and a very dirty bathroom. I ran myself a bath and saw little hairs floating in the water…. The bathroom sink tap only worked when on hot, so not good is you want to drink water. Also you should bring your own shampoo and conditioner like you would for a cheaper hotel.
There is no ‘state of the art spa’. It is a communal swimming pool with kid swimming lessons. Tried to sit in the sauna but all you hear are kids screams echoing and see them running past. The steam room wasn’t steamy, just humid, with the pump splurging hot water across the floor every few minutes, maybe it was broken? Couldn’t even use the hot tub because there were toddlers in there playing a ball game. We left pretty quick as there was just no room for the hotel guests, unless you sit on the chairs with the parents watching the kids.
The changing room was disgustingly filthy, and I had to change with a room of children, girls and boys, some boys around 10/12 which I didn’t feel comfortable with. Being the female changing room and lots of young kids/babies, it stank of fresh poo and there was sticky stuff and clumps of hair covering the floor. I’m not blaming the kids/parents as that’s the nature of having kids. But the hotel cannot have this open as a luxurious spa/pool for guests when it is anything but that. We also had to use our room towels (thinner and flimsier than Primark towels) so didn’t have a dry towel to use.
When I thought this couldn’t get any worse, we went to bed shattered, only to find that it hadn’t been made! When we pulled back the quilt, there was a mattress topper, protector and sheet scrunched in a ball underneath. The quilt was also scrunched up in a corner of the quilt cover. The mattress protector didn’t fit the topper anyway (which I guess is why it wasn’t done) and we had to strip the bed completely and remake it late at night, including taking the quilt out and redoing that.
It didn’t matter anyway because we didn’t sleep until close to 03:00 as the rooms around us were having room parties with music through speakers. I left the room to complain and saw someone else out their room also complaining. The doors are heavy fire doors with no soft close and my god they slam loudly, Which went on all through the night. On the room leaflet it said that they charge for phone calls to the reception so I wasn’t keen to pay more money to the hotel, not that they would fix the doors and stop the people from being noisy anyway.
The breakfast was basic and uninspiring, what you’d get in a budget hotel, but I was so tired I felt sick anyway.
I have told everyone I know in the area to never recommend or allow their friends to stay here. I honestly would like some of the £100 back bearing in mind we didn’t sleep, couldn’t use the spa/pool and had to make our own beds.
Nice hotel and location

Beautiful architecture and location. Really clean and comfortable and lovely reception staff. Bed was very comfortable and hotel is away from traffic noise ensuring a good night's rest.
Lots of free parking and 200 acres of grounds to explore if you have time on your hands. Plus golf club for people that do.
Expected a fridge or at least a water bottle in room, but not a deal breaker. Would return to this hotel.

With a potential relocation to the area, I visited with my wife to "mystery shop" for a location that could host conferences, and small training events. The first test was to arrive an hour before the posted check in time (1600hrs). The room was not ready which frankly is really bad for a four star hotel to have a 1600 check in. But what was inexcusable was not offering a simple complimentary coffee and taking a mobile phone number. Then the best bit. "What time is dinner served?". Reply........"There is no room for you in the restaurant at any time all.nighf". This is allegedly a four star hotel and guests paying for a room cannot even eat there. So what does the hotel do in this situation, it also closes its other bar at 5pm! Not the sort of hotel you are going to fly people into from all over Europe for events. Their loss.

On arrival we were handed damp robes with no waist belts - please not if your any larger than a size 14/16 the robes won’t fit!! Note to company but a variety of sizes so people
Don’t feel humiliated and uncomfortable
The staff corrected this and gave us a complimentary coffee - thank you
The treatments in spa were lovely and staff attentive and knowledgeable.
Swimming pool was nice, jacuzzi, steam and sauna all fine nothing grand as you’d maybe assume but perfectly adequate
Lunch after I’m bar was very nice. Service slow limited staff and food choice … and some of the items in the dishes such as sauces etc were not there and chef had to be reminded to which a substitute was given but not welcomed.
Staff seemed all a little confused throughout the experience and perplexed when asked to sort the little issues out…but on the whole a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon for my 40th birthday
