Staff were friendly and welcoming, pool facilities were fab, rooms were spacious and clean and the breakfast was delicious. Had a really lovely stay and very reasonable rates, would definitely go back.

Excellent 4 night New Year Break.

We booked a family room INCLUDING Dinner Bed & Breakfast with our two kids, ( aged 9 & 8 ) from 29th December until 2nd January and I have to say that our stay was excellent value for money! Despite the COVID restrictions, we found the hotel to be very well kept and clean and all of the staff went out of their way to help you and were all friendly. The buffet breakfast had lots of choice and all of the cooked food was fresh and hot and there was no extra charge for the fresh coffee machine which provided cappuccinos and lattes. You could order poached eggs, omelettes and vegetarian sausages as extra items. The allowance ( £27.50 pp, including kids ! ) for the evening meal on all of the nights that we stayed was more than enough and the food that was served in the Grill on the Hill restaurant was outstanding ( the pizzas were absolutely enormous and out of this world ! ). As part of the dinner allowance, we were also treated to a nice five course meal on New Year's Eve, which again was very good value. The swimming pool and leisure facilities were very good and clean and the temperature of the large pool was just about right. Despite some of the negative reviews that I saw on TripAdvisor prior to our visit, I can't really see how anybody can complain about the facilities at this hotel as we found them exceptional!

A little tired

The hotel is nowhere near as nice as the pictures. The decor is quite tired as is the bedding. We weren't offered WiFi for our stay. The tea & coffee supplies in the room were poor and had to ask repeatedly for them to be replenished. I saw a few people come down the breakfast in their pjs-not what if expect from a golf club. There was litter in the car park for the whole of our stay. The breakfast however was excellent and the pool is great. All in all the hotel is nice enough but overpriced for what it is offering.

Where shall I start? Previous occupant's rubbish still in a drawer, 4 pubic hairs in the bath, dismal tv remote with no guide, paper-thin walls and a herd of elephants tap-dancing on the ceiling above us. We complained and were given a different room, still paper-thin walls, empty soap wrapper on the floor, but a better tv. Sadly we thought it prudent to prepay for an evening meal and breakfast - BIG MISTAKE! If there is anything wrong with the food, they will only refund you 10%. Any complaints must be e-mailed to the Manager (who does not work on weekends) and guess what? HE CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO REPLY! The evening meal at the Grill on the Hill at 27.50 each should have lived up to its description of "Delicious Dining" but didn't. We struggled to find enough food to cover the prepaid money but chose pate & salmon for starters. It came with 1 small piece of toast each and was ok. The steak was again ok but my tuna and mayonnaise sandwich was a triple decker with whole-meal sliced bread and a couple of wisps of rocket on the top. It couldn't have been less appetizing and I've eaten tastier tuna sandwiches in a 1980's motorway station cafe. I cannot believe this food was prepared by a qualified chef. Out of the 4 waitresses serving food and waiting on tables, only 1 wore a mask. Breakfast looked delicious but was served on cold plates making the food tepid before we could return to our table. This could have become a regular trip for us due to family living nearby, but as we only received 10% off the 164.00 for the one night's stay & food, no apology from the 'manager', we will certainly NOT be returning. I feel sorry for the staff working in those conditions who were full of apologies but could do nothing about it. Incidentally the photo is of someone boiler-suited in the kitchen (not sure of his role but he was in there for the duration of our meal) and was fashionably wearing the t-towel around his neck - totally gross!

Would have loved to stay longer

The view of the hotel from the driveway is very impressive. We were checked in by a very friendly receptionist and went to our room which was surprisingly spacious.......it turned out to be a modified room for wheelchair access. The room itself was spotless and well equipped.......big TV and good WiFi. We didn't have long to spend in the room as we had a meeting to attend. The bed was very comfortable and the room was warm(ish) but, during the night, the duvet felt quite thin and I could imagine the possibility of not being warm enough. Breakfast was extensive and delicious. For me, the only thing missing was some Marmite to finish off my last piece of toast! The staff were very friendly and tables were cleared with quiet efficiency. The value of our stay for the price we paid was outstanding (£64 inc breakfast) and I wished we could have stayed longer.
