Room service wasn’t great
Our stay in December was ok. The room was clean and nicely laid out. The bathroom was also clean and had a very powerful, hot shower, which can be very hit and miss in most hotels, so that was great. What really let it down for me was when when we ordered room service. We ordered two stone baked pizzas, which arrived in reasonable time, except, when they did, we were told that they had ran out of adult pizza bases and had instead cooked us two extra children sized pizzas. While the gesture was nice, the pizza bases were not what I was expecting. They were dry and definitely shop bought. The menu said stone baked, so we assumed they would be better quality. If they’d just informed us before hand that they did not have what we asked for, we could have ordered something else. Also, the balcony rail wasn’t very clean and there was no seating. Overall, Staff were very friendly and polite, and I did like that they had taken covid precautions very seriously. The rooms were really nice and the price was very reasonable. We would stay again but probably won’t order food with room service.
Good but could be better
Generally bedroom was good but design of bathroom was not. Toilet next to door bang on knees. Towel rail above yoilet difficult to reach; possible drop towel in toilet. Have to close toilet to flush. No where yo put towel when using sink. Bar good and prices reasonable. Marco pierre White restaurant very average food, over priced and no where near as good as restaurants operated in house.
Welcoming, polite, goes above and beyond
My new company I am working for sent me to Bridgwater for training and put me up in the Mercure. Was very nervous during this time to travel but the Mercure was extremely clean and they had taken great lengths to make all areas in the facility safe for all parts, guests and workers. The food was absolutely delicious both in the restaurant and room services! I also want to make a point on breakfast, nearly everyday I was served by Alex. She was polite and attentive to everyone that came in. I stayed for 5 days one week and then came back the next for another 5 days. She remembered me every morning even when I arrived back the second week. I don't drink milk in my coffee and she always had a little hug of almond milk waiting for me for when I arrived at breakfast. She was absolutely fantastic during my stay!! I would highly recommend anyone staying here, either for business or pleasure.
Very Nice Hotel.
Visited alone for a couple of relaxing nights away after 7 months of working from home with 2 kids! Great hotel, nice rooms with all you'd expect in the rooms. Hotel was very clean and the provision for Covid made you feel safe. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Restaurant was very nice and the chocolate mousse was delicious. Location in Bridgwater isn't the nicest, however the town is ideally suited for exploring the Quantocks, Mendips and Cheddar Gorge. Visited Steart Marsh which was peaceful and relaxing. Thank you for a really nice weekend.
A definite diamond in the rough!
My husband and I spent 3 nights here as we were supposed to be staying in Wales but they went into lockdown so found a deal online for here and all I can say is what a fantastic stay. One of the best. Bridgwater may not be the most cultural or idyllic place but as a base to explore it's ideally situated. But enough about that as for this hotel I have never stayed somewhere where ALL the staff went out of their way to make us feel special. The whole service was impeccable and they genuinely made us feel welcome. Covid measures in place made us feel safe and were easy to follow and the whole hotel was very clean. The room was so comfortable with lovely walk in monsoon shower. We had a problem with the coffee machine in our room on arrival but this was rectified within a few minutes with a replacement and complimentary biscuits! We had booked a table (which I would recommend as the Marco Pierre White restaurant is open to non-residents too) which we intended to use once and ended up using every night as the food was delicious. Some may say it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for and a perfectly cooked steak was well worth it along with the impeccable friendly service. The maitre'd was so friendly and we only had to say our drinks order once and he knew exactly what we wanted after that. Table service was brilliant again all staff were very attentive. We may not have intended to stay here but boy are we glad we did and will definitely be returning.
