Our family of 4 stayed for 2 nights in a first floor, highway facing room. The staff was very friendly, the room was quiet and clean, and breakfast was great. We normally avoid motels as we have been in some pretty shady ones in the past, but the reviews were so good, we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The area is beautiful and we had a wonderful stay.
Amazing Stay! Can’t Beat Kind, Caring Service

My family has never been to Michigan before and we have never stayed at Econolodge. We travel once a year and the hotel stay is very important to us. We came in later than expected, but we were greeted, warmly and night manager was very, welcoming. Our room was clean and we had a room facing the lake ( without having to ask). Needed more pillows and were given hand-stuffed pillows on the spot. WOW! Very, impressed with that. Very, quiet, too, even facing the highway. Breakfast was grab and go with the best bagels. My wife usually likes the waffle maker waffles, (instead of toaster ones) at some hotels, but the bagels made up for that. No elevator, but gets you ready for the cliff side, sand -walking at any of the Great Lakes if you aren’t in shape. This is a good location if you plan to visit Lake Huron to the East, Leland and Traverse Bay to the north for day trips. Great stay for us.

My wife and I booked a last-minute stay in Cadillac over the Independence Day holiday weekend. It's a busy travel weekend, and to be honest we would probably not have booked this location or in this city if we could have found other affordable accommodations. Yet all affordable properties were booked, so we stayed four nights at the Econo Lodge. Approaching the building the first thing you realize--it's an old property, a simple brick building, probably built in the mid-20th century. We marched inside hoping for the best. The night manager (Scott) was friendly, polite and helpful. He showed us where to find our room, where to park. We asked about charging since we drive an electric car. The motel does not advertise electric vehicle charging but he went outside to help find a usable electrical outlet, making sure we could plug in overnight. Rooms were clean and completely remodeled. We were happy to see the wood laminate floors as they are easily to clean and less likely to harbor spills or mildew than carpeting. Bathroom counters are small but functional. Shower heads are non-adjustable but supply plenty of water flow and pressure for a good clean shower. Both upstairs and downstairs rooms have an outdoor balcony with seating available. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Beds are comfortable. We had hoped to stay through the holiday so we could enjoy the local fireworks, visible from our balcony. On the 4th we had checked out and drove less than ten minutes when the manager called me to say "I know you were hoping to stay another night. We just had a cancellation. Would you like to return?" So we took her up on that, and thanked her for keeping us in mind. I'm not saying this is a luxury hotel--it is clearly a no-frills stay, with no pool or fitness center and a simple continental breakfast in the morning. But the location is great, service is great and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I would return to stay any time I am in northern Michigan.
Great overnite stay!

My husband travels frequently for his job. He was refused a room simply because he is from Texas. Is that even legal? I don’t even know what else to say? I will never stay at an Econolodge again. There are too many other choices.
