Not a proper hotel
Hotel Poetto is not really a hotel just a building with very expensive (over £100 per night) rooms. Reception is only part-time and there is no bar, breakfast or restaurant on site. So it is impossible to comprehend why it costs so much. Not recommended.
Poetto on the beach
We found the room met our needs, especially for the price. Small outside sitting area to each individual ground floor room. Small hotel and simple breakfast supplied in your room. (French toast, croissants, jams etc) Spar down the road so we just supplemented with cream cheese and wonderful hams!! Staff very friendly and spotlessly clean place. Don't expect big, but location is perfect. Bus stop outside both ways and beach is over the road. Quiet time mid October, but weather was beautiful. I was unwell for a few days, but the staff helped me find out about medicines too. One downside was no pool but we had not paid enough for that luxury.
Summer vacation in Poetto
We stayed for 13 nights in Hotel Poetto. It is clean and modern fitted. Everything is absolutely fine and the staff, especially Mario, helped us a lot!! They were all very, very hospitable and supportive. We had an accident and all of them helped us like we were family members. If we come back to Cagliari, we will stay in Hotel Poetto again. Thanks for everything!!!!
Perfect Place to explore the South of Sardinia
We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay for two weeks in Hotel Poetto. The rooms are very clean and each with a nice little porch in front of it. The breakfast location is a bar at the beach, which is only 50 meters away. You get a typical "italian" breakast with a very good cappuccino and croissants. The center of Cagliari is only a ten minutes drive and you can perfectly visit the complete south of sardinia with its wonderful beaches (i can recommand to rent a scooter for that). The staff of Hotel Poetto is very friendly and helpful all the time and this place is really a good choice if you want to combine city and beach holiday.
Not bad but far from what you expect
Well, to be fair we went off-season (oct 2014). Hence the activity was probably close to dead around but still. I have to admit that the pictures that the hotel is advertising are very well taken. You expect a large room with balcony and you get a Parisian-size hotel with a terrace on Parking. I guess it was our fault to get tricked into that (despite being seasoned travellers). While the intention is pretty nice to offer you a bottle of wine upon arrival, beware if your stomach is sensible, not the best at all!. As well, the breakfast is to be take in another establishment which is o the beach (very nice!) but if you dont wake up before 8am, bad luck, they will be our of food. Despite all of the above, the staff was very good and helpful. I guess we were expecting something a bit better for the price we ended up paying (PS: we left after the first night despite having paid in advance for 3 nights without possibility of reimbursement -> that tells you our level of disappointment).
