How a brand can lose confidence of loyeal customers ...

In covid times it is quite rare to travel ... But for business reasons, i had to do a short trip to Cairo. As very often i chose an Interconti. And reading the "rules" they have put in place to protect from Covid, i thought this would be perfect. What a disappointment and what an unpleasant experience ...
1) what i consider as serious
Covid = i don't care. We have rules, but we don't implement.
Ex : lifts are crowded (in theory, only 4 people with a mask). I had either to ask staff or to wait 5 / 6 times each time to get a lift that would be empty or ... with 1 or 2 guests. Nobody to enforce the rules.
Ex 2 : In the lobby, social distancing doesn t exist. And as most of the guests don t wear a mask ...
Ex 3 : at breakfast, everybody "touches" and "helpthemselves" at buffet. Once again, sometimes with masks, sometimes without. No enforcement.
Is that what the 5 star hotel consider as a safe environment ? I was last year at an Hyatt and there, that was something ... Learning from competitor is sometimes useful.
2) what is unpleasant.
- arriving at 2.30 in the night and ... doing a checking of 15 minutes (you wonder why as they have all data as a ambassador client)
- night after, when i have to leave at midnight ... thinking i would rest a bit : a heavy noisy wedding killing the rest that you would expect after a business day. Well, i understand that weddings are an important business for hotels. But they should at least inform before : i would have chose another hotel. What is the point in paying a night ... that you cannot use ...
Apart from that, yes, the view on the Nil is nice, yes, the rooms are comfortable but here, seriously i really don't care.
Nice for 500 USD ...
Staff a bit rude but all else is great

I came in Eid for a week to Semiramis. The hotel is in general clean, housekeeping are very respectful, concierge are nice. The isolation in rooms for noise is beyond great (best part since I hate noise). Food is above average. However, theres ALOT of double standards and absolutely no consistency in service, and some staff were pretty rude:
1- Checked in twice; first time no one asked for my marriage certificate, second time they said its mandatory (im American and husband is Egyptian) which is fine for us but the staff should all say the same thing.
2- my husband (egyptian) wanted to see the Casino, we asked nicely if he could see it, the guy at reception screamed loudly that hes forbidden to enter. I understand he is as per egypt law but no need whatsoever to scream :)
3- Second checkin room was WAY below standards than the first; flush wasnt working; no water to drink; kettle not working, ashtray and hairdryer and ironboard all missing.
Shocked that this is a 5 star intercontinental

Very nice and quiet hotel even though it’s busy with many customers but thanks to the great team and the management for making everything is in place.
Room is renovated and having nile view with big balcony, Reception Team is very professional and extended a late check out for me.
Definitely will come back again.
Semiramis is just home away from home.
Thanks to Sherif and bell captain team .
Disappointing experience. Ruined my fond memories of the hotel.

Our Superior 2 Double Bed Nile-view room was hot, and had to ask engineering to come to our room twice to adjust the AC settings and carry out works in the HVAC compartment in our room- in our first and second night of our 3-night stay. This was fine, but the hotel did not even offer for us to change rooms. I improvised and kept the curtains shut even during the day to keep the sun out of our room to help keep the temperature down.
The concierge was not helpful at all, requiring us to call multiple times regarding things that we couldn’t not access online ourselves. I complained to the manager regarding these issues and not one thing was done to compensate for these issues that were obviously the hotel’s, and not from us picky and fussy guests. This is a holiday after all, and I decided to book with Semiramis once again as I stayed here with my family multiple times in the past. It seems the recent pandemic has made the staff rusty in meeting their guests’ basic needs.
With regards to the pandemic, it was incredibly busy and packed most of the time in the lobby area. I don’t understand the covid19 regulations in Cairo when it comes to enclosed spaces that can potentially become busy such as hotels, but none of the guests were required to wear masks. Many guests were roaming around the lobby. without wearing any face masks which made it uncomfortable for guests such as myself. I understand that this might not be mandatory, but there should at least be IMPLEMENTATION of social distancing by staff.
