Overall acceptable
It is budget price and budget quality. Family room has a mezzanine for the kids in the eves. Very steep stairs up to them but a lockable gate at the top. Very cramped downstairs and not terribly well cleaned. Bathroom very cramped and have to sit on the toilet on an angle! However, it’s under £100 and fine for a night after driving up from France. Cheap places to eat within walking plus the massive supermarket. Star lost for cramped facilities and dirtiness on floors etc.
Very budget hotel near loud motorway
This hotel is not like the B&B hotels I've stayed in before. Very basic. And very, very loud due to the close proximity to the motorway. As it was very hot, we had to have the window open and it was extremely loud the entire night. There was no fan (!!!) and no air conditioning - so we had not choice but to sleep with the window open. Which pretty much meant not sleeping at all. Beds were also very, very hard and uncomfortable - I felt like I was sleeping on a wooden pallet. Bathroom was ok and good shower - but with shower curtain instead of glass. Due to Covid, breakfast was served in bags - so no hot eggs, decaf coffee, nor any vegan options - so we had to go elsewhere for breakfast as my niece is vegan. Staff did their best, but I'd not stay here again.
We never stay anywhere else
We have been staying here when travelling to and from our French house for about 5 years now after switching from a hotel in Coquelles where parking was becoming difficult. No matter what time we arrive we have always been able to park in the gated compound which is important when travelling with a van. In all this time we have always been very happy with our stay . The rooms are to the usual B+B standard - compact but comfortable. The owners are lovely and very welcoming and it was a lovely feeling to walk through the door again after Covid to see a familiar face on our first time back in France. The Covid precautions were very reassuring and we had taken extra precautions ourselves by bringing our own pillows. Although we have never used them - there are two options for food just across the road - an American Diner and a McDonalds. There is also a bakery so to save time in the mornings we usually grab a couple of pastries and eat on the go which is really handy as we have a long journey whichever way we are travelling. As an added bonus to staying here there is also a French wine warehouse nearby and last year we stocked up on some interesting wines we wouldn't have found in our own region. As the title says we would not stay anywhere else.
Nice hotel but beware.
The hotel was basic but pleasant enough for the price rooms were very small but clean and had tv and bathroom. Beware if you stay here though we had all our belongings from our roofbox stolen and and found 2 immigrants hiding in it on our first night. we were due to stay a second but after such a traumatic experience we just wanted to get away and the hotel refused to refund us for the second night despite the fact we had this happen on their premises. The police came and took them away and our belongings were found we had most back but some things are still missing. If you stay here make sure you check everything before leaving we only noticed because our tie down strap had come loose. We lost belongings, our roofbox is broken and they refused to refund us a second night I would never stay here again.
Very convenient stopover
Stopped here following a long drive up from the Alps and then an early depart the following morning on Eurotunnel. Very conveniently situated (just 100m off the motorway to the tunnel) and easy to find. Very easy to access after hours (they have an 'ATM' to get passcode for hotel access and room). Basic but clean room but most importantly for us they have a rooms for 4 which meant the family could all stay together avoiding hassle. Could be a bit cheaper (even though we had one room it was on par for 2 rooms at Premiere Classe) but convenience was key.
