DO NOT ENTER! Cockroaches and no refund for not staying!

On our way home from Florida to Orillia, Ontario. I made the booking from the car. The hotel was dumpy and when I walked into the room, I was greeted by a cockroach scurrying on the bed. My eye caught another disappearing into a fold of the bed cover and so I immediately picked up my bag - my husband was behind me and as soon as he saw it he turned - didn't even put his bag down. We went back to the desk - the clerk had gone to get food so while we waited I was on hold with Best Western customer service. When she returned, I hung up and explained that we weren't staying and why. She apologized, said she would have maintenance look at the room and said not to worry - she hadn't processed the credit card so we won't be charged. We went across the street and took a room that was double the price - it was late, we were tired, and at least we knew the hotel we went to was going to be clean. After 2 calls to customer service, a manager named "Diana" according to the clerk, denied our refund. So now we're out $90 American dollars - I am done with Best Western.
WORSE THAN TERRIBLE! STEER CLEAR!

We were driving from Windsor, Ontario (crossed at Detroit Michigan) and we pulled off I-75 with my elderly in-laws on our way to drop them off in Florida for the winter. They were tired and stiff and needed a relaxing sleep and rest before a second long day of driving and sitting in the car. We made the incorrect assumption that because this hotel was affiliated with Best Western it would be ok - we weren't looking for luxury but obviously expected a clean & safe room as we were intending to just sleep and leave early to get back on the road. There was no relaxing to be had! The "woman" planted in the lobby with her little dog who looked like a fairly permanent fixture were an unprofessional welcome to the hotel-that should have been a sign. We were given 2 rooms - 102 for them and 103 for me. Both rooms were right behind the lobby which at first seemed convenient as they were at ground level so didn't require them to climb any stairs. In regards to room 103 where I had the displeasure of staying I can quite honestly say it was THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD! I travel a lot for work and have stayed in many hotels and this was literally the most disgusting, unsafe, sleepless night I've ever had to endure! My room stunk of cigarette smoke - interesting for a 100% smoke free hotel-the front desk's solution to this was to spray the room with some air freshener! The rooms open onto the parking lot - which most motels do however, right outside my door was a drive thru for a Little Caesars so I continually heard "can I take your order" as an endless stream of cars went through the drive thru. I heard people right outside my door all night long and felt very unsafe so pulled the mini fridge in front of the door (that didn't have a chain on it). While moving the fridge a cockroach crawled out from under the microwave. It was so noisy I turned the fan on the air conditioning/heater unit in the wall so it was consistently running to drown out some of the noise - that proved to make it freezing in my room. I decided to have a hot shower to warm up to find the shower curtain ripped. I turn down the sheet - the bed had no blankets, comforter, bedspread or duvet-simply a top sheet and another thin cotton overthrow - and when I turn down the sheet I find the bottom fitted sheet is dirty-it was covered in marks from God knows what?! I then decide to lay down on top of the sheet and put a towel on the pillow and laid there waiting for morning to come so I could get the hell out of there! I tried to turn the TV on so I could turn the heat on instead of the fan and let the TV drown out some of the noise but the volume was broken so that didn't' work. In the morning (after zero sleep) I brushed my teeth only to trap another cockroach near the sink which I left in a plastic cup for your staff to find! There was no way we were going to risk the complimentary breakfast after the lack of cleanliness in the rooms! No thank you to potential food poisoning! All in all it was a disgusting experience-dirty, bugs, cold, noisy, unsafe! It looks ok on the outside especially at night with their cool LED lights but don't be fooled like we were! AVOID THIS HOTEL!

We are Best western rewards members and wanted to use our points for a free night to stay 1/2 way to our destination. We had a good nights sleep and the front desk staff was great. The room needs a very good cleaning. It has potential to be a very nice place.
NASTY..AVOID THIS PLACE

This motel is completely nasty. We booked online, sight unseen as we were driving up from Florida. We didn't even stay 10 minutes, the smell in the room was horrible and the nastiness of the room UGH! Nightmare experience, so disgusting.

Queen room requested. Given double beds instead because the room I boom was not available. Room was clean, staff was friendly. Room was missing a fridge and microwave though. Overall satisfied with the stay.
