Not worth the money

Reviewed 6 december, 2021

We have been to about 7 resorts in Mexico most from the AMR collection but we decided to give another brand a try. Many things to know about this resort before you give it a try. 1. You must make a reservation for every dinner (this must be done the day before for the next day). No walk ins. We tried at the beginning of each day and no hibachi was available for the e tire stay. 2. There is no sit down lunch restaurants. Only options for lunch are at the pool and one near the beach with minimal options. 3. Room service is $10 and there is only a certain amount you can order based on how many people are in your room. 4. COVID tests are $25 per person which are free at other resorts. That could add up quickly depending on the size of your family. 5. The pools are not heated so they were a bit chilly in December. The hot tub which there is one was full of little kids many babies without diapers. Most likely cause the pools were cold. No signs for adults only. 6. As soon as you get there they let you know that despite spending a lot of money to stay there you are only able to visit part of the resort as the other part is for adults only. Those residents though are invited to use any of the other resort though making many places very crowded. 7. The only way to really get around resort is by golf cart or boats. Long walks from rooms to restaurants. Definitely not a good place for Anyone with disabilities as it would be impossible to get into a boat and difficult to get into a cart and carry wheelchair. 8. We upgraded to a suite with a jazucci tub on patio but what we weren’t told is that there are some very steep marble winding stairs that go to the second floor of the suite that we would need to Carry our 60 pound suitcases up and make sure we weren’t wet when we came out of hot tub cause otherwise we would definitely fall down them. The room is gorgeous but if you have any issues at all this isn’t the room for you. 9. The food was very subpar compared to the AMR resorts. The portions very small and the food was flavorless. Overall just poor. 10. Housekeeping and grounds keeping was great! 11. Grounds were gorgeous. Decorated nicely for Christmas. 12. There was another add on option for a show and dinner that was $139.00 per person. Those nights no other shows for adults for free. No Dance club for gathering as that was at the adults only resort that we weren’t a part of. One sports bar but only a pool table and tables with tv’s for watching sports. Overall, just too many add ons! They give you $1500 in “resort credit” to which we couldn’t use any of it. The spa services were specials so couldn’t use coupon the upgrades had to stay 5+ nights. To me all inclusive means everything included. Here I left with a tab for upgrade, covid tests etc.

Go with family selection!

We are here now at the resort. We are staying in family selection. Highly recommend to go with this option. You get your own reception, butler - although we don’t see him or her all day, if you need anything they communicate via WhatsApp. Very friendly. Also - shoutout to Gabriel at family selection front desk - he is very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Also big thank you to Benjamin - he brought our luggage and took me to reception when we had a problem. Big thank you to the best bartender Miguel at the family selection bar. Miguel is friendly and amazing and makes the best drinks. Loved Pati from the aerobics and volleyball. She is wonderful. Wendy and Emma from kids club, my daughter loved them!!!! The kids club at family selection is small but my daughter did not want to leave. They are so wonderful with children. The best is having dinner and drinks at the Nest (restaurant at family selection), while watching my daughter play. Nothing better really. She begged to go there and we had to beg her to leave. Big thank you to all the girls at the kids club at family selection. Before we got here. I read all the reviews. And I am completely blown away by the negative 2 star reviews. We are from NY. We are foodies and we know AHMAZING food AND service. And food here is very good. Isla Blanca for breakfast and lunch is excellent. Frankly, I don’t know what these people order and eat but the selection is excellent. I would say Poisedon is ok not a great selection of choice. But isla blanca hands down great great food. Freshly grilled fish and scallops and steak. Freshly made tacos, I mean really anything your heart desires. And I am SOOO relieved to love the food. Reading those ugly reviews, they will make you think you will starve here. It’s great food. Also, the Nest restaurant- not a lot of choices, but good breakfast and very good dinner. truthfully, I am picky about our food and it’s been good. Thai restaurant was probably the worst. The best so far is Japanese Hibachi. Excellent!! Regular Japanese was good. Their tuna is delicious. At the regular Japanese table - not many choices or actually barely any for kids. At the hibachi - grilled chicken and steak - my daughter loved. The food at the Nest - grill dinner is Amazinng. I mean - soooo good. The steak, mahi mahi and the salads and wonderful service. They try their best and we appreciate it. PLEASE TIP PEOPLE WHO HELP YOU. We didn’t see anyone tipping. They bring you various things/ go out of their way to make your stay comfortable - how do you not leave a few dollars?!?!?!?? The pools are gorgeous. The main pool is great. Plenty of seats. And I’m really happy I don’t have to fight anyone for a seat or wake up at 6 am to take up my seat. Absolutely beautiful pool. Family selection pool is a beauty too but with a toddler, I loved the main pool. This resort is beautiful overall. Although, we don’t like to repeat our resorts, I would consider coming here again. And that says a lot. We have been coming to Mexico for 10 years to different 4.5 stars and above resorts that are all inclusive. Also, Puldo (I hope I am spelling his name right!!!) he drove us via golf cart to our building. The most friendliest and nicest man around. You can tell he appreciates his job. I hope he gets recognized. And finally love our room at family selection. The shower is massive and works so well if you have a child. I love the separation of the bathroom overall. Truly impressed with the property, FOOD and service.

Beautiful place but not worth the cost

Gorgeous resort and grounds. Food was really poor. Wine was atrocious. We really loved the Asian and steak house restaurant. Also loved the sports bar. Was one of the better ones I have been too. Resort has so much potential but quality needs work. For the price point.
