A Magical Stay
We spent a magical and romantic evening at this place over Thanksgiving 2018. The hotel is incredibly charming, the service is impeccable and the restaurant, superb. My sea bass was especially fished for me that very same day. They make their own Gin called rain, ask Diego all about it. One of the best places I have visited in my life! I will be back for more! I also had a wonderful massage in the room after waking up... What a treat! One thing I want to emphasize is that the people at the hotel are genuinely nice. Their service is really 5 star, but you can feel that is from the heart. That they really enjoy what they are doing, You can feel the passion, and they make you feel like an old friend. I can't wait to get back.
A great stay.
We were recommended the hotel as a place to stay on our way to Potes. What a find. We loved the quirky decor and fascinating objects displayed around the hotel. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant on our first night and we were well looked after by Diego. The following day after a good breakfast we set off on a hike up the valley. After walking further than planned we arrived at a inn in Correpoco, 7 miles away. The heavens opened at this point and the prospect of a long walk back was not appealing. After asking about buses; non and taxis; 22 k away we thought we would have to walk. At this point a gentleman in the bar asked where we were staying. He said he would ring his friend and he would collect us! Unable to speak Spanish we wondered what would happen. Amazingly Diego arrived to rescue us. Not only did he collect us but he showed us his favourite village and National Park at the head of the valley. His paradise. A beautiful valley. We enjoyed a second dinner in the restaurant after sampling Diego’s rain gin. A gem of a place we will definitely return.
Ancient Coaching Inn
Set amidst the soaring Picos Range of Cantabria in Northern Spain, this ancient Coaching Inn continues to provide a hearty welcome to the weary traveller. We arrived in the late evening due to a delayed ferry at Santander to be greeted by Diego who is a member of the family that own the hotel. We were made to feel very much at home. Our room was cosy, clean and comfortable where we enjoyed a deep sleep following our travels. In the morning we were served a delicious continental breakfast consisting of home baked cakes that would have Mary Berry drooling at the lips. We were en route to visit friends in Potes but the area is ideal for hiking. You could do no better than book yourself into the Real de Selores.
An incredible place!
I had the pleasure to celebrate the New Year´s Eve in this place. In a very nice farm house and in a beautiful place. The dinner was exquisite and the treatment recibed by the waiter was very good. An experience that must be repeated.
What a find!
Having trekked up the mountain & down we wondered what we were going to find but what a surprise! A beautiful treat was in store for us. A thoroughly tastefully, sympathetically restored manor that were very comfortable in large rooms that were well heated together with large modern en suite bathrooms with lots of hot water. Food was served in a separate building which added to the excitement of what you were going to order. Again beautifully prepared local food that was served by a friendly waitress.
