Got here and time warped to 1992. Decor is crap… Even better is the lack of service, shower that rattles and can’t get beyond Luke warm. Mold in the shower. Place is just beat up. No housekeeping, restaurant is closed, bar is closed, but I’m still paying full price.
Incredible family getaway!

Our family is new to North Carolina and wanted a few relaxing days at the beach after moving across country. This hotel really hit the mark. The location was amazing, with direct beach access, a large clean pool and tons of room for lounging.
We were able to check in an hour early which was great after our long drive. The staff that checked us in was extremely friendly and gave us some tips on the area. Our room on the 10th floor was large and clean with a balcony overlooking the ocean.
We had a perfect view of the fireworks from our balcony. As we were heading back out, one of the employees Julian checked in with our kids to make sure they’d enjoyed the fireworks and to give them glow sticks and lollipops.
10/10 stay - we will be back!

I booked this room before reading reviews. After reading reviews I was a bit concerned but our stay was mostly great! Here are a few good & not-so-good thoughts after our stay. One, it's a GREAT location. It's easy to get to the beach, the pool entrances, boardwalk, etc are all right there and quick and easy to access. Several really great restaurants in walking distance. Yes, there is a little amusement park beside the hotel but being a Monday/Tuesday in late august it was not an issue, though I could see it being one when it's the height of summer vacationing. There are two chair rental affiliates nearby so getting a beach chair & umbrella for your stay is easy. Pool was clean and nice. I was there mostly for the beach.
Rate was a bit expensive BUT we did the pre-pay option because we knew we were going regardless & wouldn't need to cancel. It saved us probably $70 a night. If we had paid more than we did, I might have been more disappointed. Anyhow, the downsides.
NO free coffee in lobby. Sorry, but I feel like a "higher end" Marriott should offer coffee, especially if their cheaper tier ones do. In room coffee service was meh. The containers of pods & creamers, etc were dusty, showing they had sat there awhile, and no clue how long it had been since the machine was cleaned. The hallway on the 9th floor was HOT. Other floors were not this way so I imagine the A/C is out or something. Ice machine was also missing, and the one on the 8th floor was broke so we had to go hunting for ice.
Some reviews complained that the decor was "old" and needed updating. We did not find this to be true. Our room was perfectly clean when we arrived too. Housekeeping is less because of covid but we had no problems asking staff for more towels. Desk etc seemed well staffed.
There are two chairs on the balcony. They are both small and flimsy. If you are someone who likes to sit on the balcony a lot you might be disappointed in that so you may want to consider brining a camping chair or folding chair or something like that to take outside with you. We really enjoyed sitting on the swings on the boardwalk below the hotel to watch the ocean.
Anyhow, I wouldn't hesitate to come back but I also wouldn't want to come in prime-season or pay more than I did for what I got. If it's location you want, it's great.
Great Weekend Stay!

We arrived around noon after a 4 hour drive. We were super excited to finally get away for a few days. This was our first trip in over a year. The front desk associate that check us in quickly ruined that mood for us, but not for long. I was a little worried after reading reviews. I came ready with my own cleaning supplies and everything. None of my supplies were needed. Our king bed was super comfy, the room was clean and we had great water pressure in the shower. It is a little bit of a walk to the beach if you have a lot of stuff to carry. There are several bars & restaurants within walking distance, and a little carnival right beside the hotel. I only wish we would have taken our grand daughter. We did drive to dinner to a place called Michael's Seafood and it was outstanding. We had a wonderful trip and will defiantly be back.
Oh and the pool was wonderful too!

While the hotel was sold out, this place has really gone downhill. The room was filthy… mold, mildew and blood smear on the wall. I will never stay here again.
When I notified the front desk, they said they would have housekeeping refresh the room and provide me with a $150 credit. Also, I always request a feather free room because of allergy sensitivities. $150 is not worth the health concerns that arise when staying in a room with these conditions.
I am a Bonvoy Gold Elite member, which is why I looked for a Marriott property. The rate together with taxes was above $1000 total for 2 nights, so really they should be able to take care of the property better than they have.
Disappointing at best.
