Checked in, staff where friendly and accomodating. We were notified the pool was out of order unfortunately. When we got to our allocated room which had a "room clean" sign on the door, opening the door and entering the room it was clear the room was filthy with unmade beds and food packinging lying around and pizza boxes with leftover pizza. On contacting reception they were very appologetic and gave us a clean room. The room was clean and spacious. Overall a nice stay after the intitial hurdles. I can't add other details about persons staying at the hotel courtesy of the taxpayer due to TripAdvisor blocking the facts as usual..
Disappointed. Christmas tour group. December 2021. 4 night stay.

Disabled room. The facilities were okay. However, there was no means to get into a bath or to shower. I had to perch on the far end of the bath to rinse myself, Grab rail too far from the end of the bath perch/ledge to be of any use. Showerhead hose too short to reach bath ledge to rinse me off. I have researched bath ledges (CareC0 & Complete Care) that sell removable bath sitting ledges for £20 to £30 odd. You would think the hotel group could provide a bath ledge. They are easily portable and could be used in many circumstances. (see photos) If you are disabled it is extremely difficult to get in and out of the bath. The shower facility is an over-bath shower. Not suitable for a disabled wheelchair-bound person who has mobility needs. There was no toilet brush. Pretty unhygienic. The laminated furniture has seen better days. Water damaged and cracked in places. The disabled room fell far short of shelf or drawer packing space. Limited TV channels. No room cleaning service. Understandably due to Covid. No allocated space to place bin bags. Handed our bin bags in at Reception - nowhere to leave them. No replacement toilet rolls not even left outside the door. Had to go to the Reception every day to get spare toilet rolls. Pool out of bounds. Not for covid reasons but due to heating elements not working to full heating capacity - health limits. Same for the steam room. Not informed of this beforehand. Had planned to have therapeutic treatments. Hoel and Spa, you would think the Spa would be working. The Christmas lunch was hot and excellent, well presented. The staff were diligent and friendly and went to trouble for the Christmas lunch. Breakfasts were tepid and appeared to be recycled. Either soggy tomatoes or next day barely warm and halfway between being fresh raw tomatoes and slightly warmed under the serving lights. Fried eggs dry, scrambled eggs cold. 1 x Rotating toaster to serve 2 tour groups and other guests for toast - leaving queues forming and already tepid breakfast to get even colder. Coffee was like recycled dishwater, we got our own instant coffee. The same applied to after-dinner refreshments. The Thermos pumps need replacing as their pump-action was seriously ineffective. Carvery Dinner serving chaos. Dinner options were limited. E.g one evening Carvery main option was Salmon or Pork. I requested 1 slice pork (not 2) and 1/2 piece Salmon. I was told it was not possible. Either one or the other. No mustard or apple sauce sachets at dinner, but plenty of brown sauce at dinner service. Cordoned off areas for rehomed Afghans which caused confusion. Same applied for meal seating. We were told to be seated on the 'other side' of the dining area. Why? Why have to segregate? We had no concern about mingling. We asked for 2 non-alcoholic beers on Thursday 23rd. Told by the barman that there were no non-alcoholic beers in stock! The stock would take 5 days to obtain! So much for protecting designated drivers! Couldn't a staff member pop down to the Tesco Express 3 blocks away to get some stock in considering that we would be there for the next 4 nights/ 5 days. When raised with the bearded manager, he said there is non-alcoholic white wine. We didn't want wine, apart from the cost is highly elevated. The rooms were inadequately heated and we asked for an extra duvet. The entrance /Reception area was very cold, and not inviting to sit in and catch up with fellow travelers. Only 1 heating out of 3 heating appliances above the sliding door was operational. This did not encourage mingling. No festive music played until boxing day. A Pity as it could have been a pleasant area to mingle. The festive entertainment was mediocre, and the last evening was exceptionally loud to the point of being discomforting. The entertainer for Christmas Eve, Rich Parsons, was amazing! Exceptionally good, his repertoire was varied, and his knowledge of music was broad, he played to his audience, and was the talk topic at breakfast and on the following day. It was a pity that some of the small and relatively cheap touches that were overlooked or ignored could have made for a better experience. The staff, in general, were helpful and were working hard during reduced staffing levels due to Covid (??) and limitations over the festive period. Be aware that you only have 20 minutes of WIFI in the room per 24 hours or pay £7 for 24 hours. Alternatively, you have to go to the Lobby which is not private, freezing cold, and only has low couches and low coffee tables. Alternatively use the lounge/bar area which has higher tables but is also very cold and lacks heating. Bar service only ran from 18 00 to 22 00, even on Christmas day.
By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in

This is by far the single most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. The reception looks great and the staff are friendly- but that’s where it ends. The rooms are FILTHY! I documented everything out of sheer disbelief. The room even had a sanitised sticker on it! Shocking!

We went to Christmas Party. First has you walk through the door it states face masks must be worn 75% of the people were not. We had the 3 course Christmas menu. The soup was good, but the main course of chicken was awful. The roast potatoes were black, we ask for some nice ones they arrived after we finished our meal. The vegatables were awful. We had the disco but the power went off and one of our guests had to find the fault because there was nobody on the staff who knew where the fuse box was. Not a good evening at all will think twice about using your facilities again.
Avoid at all cost

This hotel is owned by the Britannia Group. It is terrible! I remember as I was entering the room the security sticker had been broken. I should have walked away then.....The bedroom was dirty and there were 2 panels lying on the bathroom floor!!! A maintenance man came into the room just after I arrived and he was surprised anyone was in the room. He did not explain why he was there he just walked away. There was no bath mat so I had to use the one hand-towel. Every time you used the basin, toilet or bath there was a terrible grinding noise. Not exactly a relaxing shower. The paper cup and coffee etc. “pack” is something I would have expected in a 2* hotel. The staff were unhelpful and sullen. When I complained about the room no one seemed to care and they said they would have to speak to the manager. Needless to say no one ever came back to me and at checkout no one knew anything g about it. There was a terrible breakfast – over cooked, dried out eggs, bacon that looks like its just been re-heated. Same instant coffee you made yourself, not a pleasant experience at all. Stick to Premier Inn, at least you get a clean room and it does what it says on the tin. Stay away from this hotel....
