I had great expectations about the hotel and somehow some been met other not so. What was great? The location is fantastic. 5 min walk from old city and cathedral and Across the train station but sufficiently away so you do not hear trains. The rooms are good (had a junior suite) with plenty of space and good amenities The restaurant is great too. The food is good but the crew is great ! Big up guys What was not so great? The hotel reception team - playing on the phone …. And the breakfast (not plenty of variety) Room’s Windows are not sound proof too All in all it is a good Choice for a visit to the city
Opposite the train station, nice bar and restaurant

I had a trip planned to Chartres the following day and unexpectedly finished work early so decided to leave Paris straight away and spend an extra night in Chartres. I found a good price for a junior suite at the Jehan which is usually more expensive. I paid €87.50 which I felt was a good deal otherwise I would have stayed down the road in the more centrally located Mercure where I was staying the next day. I specifically asked for a bed with a double mattress and not two single ones and as usual hotels just don't pay attention so I got a suite with two single mattresses on the bed. I can never understand why it doesn't occur to hotels that a solo traveller definitely doesn't want two single mattresses. Luckily I hadn't unpacked before I noticed it so was moved to another suite which was slightly bigger and had a double mattress. The next problem was that there was no minibar. I like to have cold water available in my room without having to order it from room service. I parked my car in their car park and they gave me a space a level down although some spaces were empty on the ground level. Luckily I managed to get my car down there without scraping it. I then went out a side door and got stuck outside as the doors were locked and I couldn't get out to the street or back into the car park. Thank goodness I had my mobile phone on me to call for help but in the end I found one door that was open and managed to get back into the garage. The hotel should have warned me about that. I looked at the exercise room which you had to pay €8 to use along with the sauna which was in a different location and I felt that was a bit of a cheek as there were only 3 appliances in the exercise room and two of them were broken. In the evening I had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was very nice with tablecloths, candles and flowers and a well-dressed and friendly waiter called Max who turned the loud music down for me which was blaring out of the speaker just above my head. The food wouldn't get a Michelin star but it was fine and I was glad I didn't have to go out. There was also a lobby bar where you could sit and have a drink which was nice too. I was comfortable in my suite and didn't hear any noise despite my room being opposite the entrance to the train station. I would have stayed another night if I hadn't already booked elsewhere. The following night I returned to the hotel for dinner as the restaurant I'd intended to go to was closed.
Great location , but something missing

Great location , 5 minutes walk away from the cathedral and the old town. The restaurant was closed the evening we were there. The room was clean, quite small and we felt missed the mark for a 4 star hotel. No tea or coffee making facilities, no fridge or mini bar, no bottles of water in the room. We went out to see the lights around the town (really worth seeing ) arriving back at the hotel around 11.15 the bar was shut and there was no one there who could give us a glass of wine. I’m sure there would be other guests who would do the same and love a glass of something before retiring. The breakfast was very disappointing too. Decor I’d call glitzy modern.
The best hotel at Chartres

A good hotel located opposite the railway station and on the main road to the station but not affected by noise too badly. A short walk from the Cathedral and main tourist area of Chartres. The room was a standard L shaped modern hotel room with a separate bathroom and WC. Decor was Art Deco and of good quality. The self service breakfast was also good. We were directed to park our car in the public car park adjacent to the station, but our car was broken into and ransacked while parked there, though fortunately we had removed all valuables. I observed at least two other cars that had broken windows in the car park. The hotel staff were at a loss on how to deal with the break in, other than to send us to the very helpful local police station. We were later told that there is a small hotel car park behind the hotel though this is not secure either. Obviously the hotel can do nothing about security in the public car park, so just be aware if you are parking here.
