We come to Champaign frequently and like the location of the IHotel. However, over the years we have noticed the rooms have not been renovated. The beds are very soft and hurt my husbands back. The bathrooms need refreshed as well. While it is nice to have have Houlihans's and a nice lobby the rooms need a major REFRESH. We unfortunately will have to seek other accommodations.

This was my third stay. It's a beautiful hotel. The location is perfect: on the edge of the campus and in a very quiet area. The beds are very comfortable. The hotel was quiet at night. Staff was efficient and pleasant. I stayed twice during the pandemic and prices were very reasonable.
My main criticism was that the staff did not inform me that housekeeping does not service the rooms unless the guest requests it. The card on the bed states that rooms are serviced daily.
Other criticisms are minor: coffee at the I-Cafe (part of the complimentary breakfast) had little flavor. Blueberry scones were good but lemon scones were dry and seemed old. The room needs better black out curtains. The on-site restaurant is closed two days a week which seems odd for a restaurant attached to a hotel.
I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Urbana- Champaign
A Decent Optionfor Tesla owners

I was attracted to this hotel while visiting family in Champaign because it offered a Tesla charger. While we are used to the sometimes inconvenient charging situation I had tried to navigate this by telling the hotel what time in advance I'd be arriving and even called two hours out. Unfortunately, we showed up after traveling 13 hours we arrived exhausted, and hungry, and running on metaphorical "fumes". The restaurant is closed Sundays and Mondays and we checked in on a Sunday so that left us searching for food options which would have been no problem if we could have charged our car while carrying in our bags just to get enough to grab food. Unfortunately we showed up and the spot was taken and the hotel admittedly gave it to a non hotel guest. The assured us it would only be 30 mins, but again, we were hangry and EXHAUSTED, so we found this unacceptable. The same thing happened the 2nd night. We came back after driving all day and needed to charge once back especially since we were going to drive to South Illinois today. Again, we arrived, spot taken, but same non hotel guests car. I get the feeling that the hotel cannot enforce the whole this is for hotel guests thing and the locals have taken advantage of the free charging versus charging at home or using a super charger.....regardless, 1015p when we wanted to sleep they finally called to say the spot was open.
When I first thought about this honest review, I wanted to give 2 stars because it was SO frustrating to deal with these issues on vacation when we had an urgent need for charging. That said, I decided that was a somewhat trivial issue, albeit frustrating, and that the helpful staff warranted more than that. The rooms were spotless. Quiet. Staff accommodating. Lots of amenities. We loved the layout too where all 4 of us could stay in a suite with 2 bedrooms and a family room in the middle.
So I decided our frustrations were more of a reflection on our bad mood that day and if you don't have a Tesla you would definitely have ZERO complaints. The hotel would have gotten a 5 star review if we had a better experience late night the first night.
We appreciate especially Ashley's help. She offered to order us food and have it sit under the heat lamp, brought up a microwave to our room, and was just simply so friendly. So all in all, it is a great place to stay!

Once more we had the opportunity to stay at the beautiful I-Hotel in Champaign last night. It is one of the most beautiful places we have been fortunate to stay at and we have traveled extensively. The attention to every detail, ranging from the beautiful landscaping, the wonderful coffee in the room as well as at the breakfast bar, the elegant toiletries to the bookshelves stocked with well chosen books in every room make this our most favorite hotel in the world! The cities of Champaign and Urbana as well as the University of Illinois are fortunate to have this wonderful place where families can spend some time surrounded by peace, beauty and comfort. We are grateful to have this place to stay when visiting our student at the University and grateful to all those who have worked to make it what it is- a true jewel.
Excellent hotel in Champaign

Spent 7 nights in this fine establishment in February while attending a conference. Hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, service, comfort, friendly and efficient staff - from reception to restaurant to housekeeping! Cleanliness to the highest standard. Coziest lobby with couches and a fire place. Conference venue was also excellent - in terms of staff service, quality and cleanliness. Spacious room and bathroom with top quality amenities, including a fluffy white bathrobe . In my opinion, the three star rating sells this hotel short and should be regraded to 4 or higher. Houlihans Restaurant is ok. Good service but a limited menu. I highly recommended the I Hotel !
