Great location, nice staff, just hope the plumbing doesn’t fail

If you want to be in the heart of University of Illinois, there’s no better location. This is a comfortable hotel with nice staff and pleasant rooms with kitchenettes. However, the kitchen drain was partially clogged from the time we arrived, and worsened during our four day stay. We told the hotel desk on the second morning. That evening nothing had happened, so we informed the desk again. At that point the desk staff said that there was no maintenance available that entire day — no apologies, no timelines, no improvement.
We Had an Uneventful Three Night Stay

This hotel is not easy to find; not hard to find. It's at the end of a dead end street. That is, the hotel is on the left, the parking garage is on the right, and an exit to a local street (if you don't go into the garage) is kind of straight ahead. They do charge $7 a day to park there. Our 2-queen bed room had a totally equipped full kitchen: refrig, stove, dishwasher, microwave, complete set of dishes for four, and a dining table with four chairs. With regard to breakfast, I'm not sure what is not there. Make your own waffles, prepared breakfast sandwiches to heat up, fresh fruit, pastries, muffins.... We'll go back there on our next visit to C-U.
Two U of I Alumni Loved this On Campus Hotel!

My wife and I stay two nights at the Towneplace Suites-Champaign in mid-August to look at the campus, and visit with local friends and family. We were blown away by the comfortable facilities, the prompt service, and the convenient location. Here are the hotel employees who made our stay special: Jena–prompt check-in and clear description of the hotel’s amenities, parking, and the fees; Robert–night desk person who brought us two extra pillows; Jennifer–provided us information on the no extra charge breakfasts in the lobby; and Karissa–who brought us extra towels to our room. These courteous hotel staffers, the comfortable hotel spaces, and convenient location on campus with reasonable parking, made our brief stay memorable and luxurious. We both agreed not to wait another 45 years to return to campus, and walk the steps again of our U of I Alma Mater. Go Towneplace Suites, and Go Illini!
Great Location, Bad Service

I stayed here during move-in week for the university, which is why I wasn't expecting too much from this property even with extremely high rates well above $300 per night. The good thing about this property is the location, it is very centrally located by Green Street, and walking distance to most of the key areas of campus. Being an extended stay style property, the rooms are also somewhat more practical, with kitchens and such. It also comes with free breakfast for all, though don't expect much from it. Now, this particular stay was pretty bad. From rude and unfriendly front desk staff, to a complete denial of elite benefits. They will have you wait hours for your room, even past the noted check in time, and deny any form of late check out even though it is a guaranteed benefit for Platinum and above guests. Note that I wasn't even asking for the latest check out time and only wanted a 12pm checkout as their normal check out time is 11am. You will also find the front desk being unmanned quite often, with many people waiting around the small lobby area. Anyway, there are some other better hotels around town that are worth giving up the location of this hotel for. I would not pay such high rates for a subpar hotel with staff like that who could not even show any level of flexibility and understanding. I would recommend renting a car or even using ride-share services to get to some other hotels in town.
Well located and helpful staff

Stayed here for a week in January 2021 when I had gone to drop my son at UIUC. Glad I booked this hotel as the location is excellent. Right on E Green Street next to a lot of places to eat. As COVID protocols were being followed, amenities and housekeeping services were at a minimum but one could request for housekeeping, extra towels, etc and it was always available. Needed to get bulky items like bedding etc shipped to the hotel for my sons dorm. Tammy, the GM, was extremely helpful when I spoke to her a week before check in. All my things arrived early and the her staff signed for it and ensured it was kept safely. Very happy with the way the staff dealt with multiple packages. Jena and Jennifer at the Front Office were also very helpful and pleasant. A comfortable stay. The rooms are decent sized and clean with an attached kitchenette. Would only ask for a better pan in the rooms. Will stay here next trip to Champaign also.
