Dear Bonvoy Program Team, I have been a customer with Marriott properties since 2017. I have stayed at your properties around the country and world for many years with great pleasure and expectations that are associated with the Marriott portfolio of hotel brands that your company offers. Unfortunately after driving for 14 hours, I have to write you this email at 12:43am EST, exhausted from travel. After checking into the listed property above, there are sanitary concerns and MAJOR safety/building code ELECTRICAL violations. Please see my narrative below for the Bonvoy Management team to review: 1. There is mold inside the bathroom. I understand that this issue can be resolved with appropriate janitorial care and shouldnt be an issue after this email. Please see attached photos for pictures of mold. 2. The tub faucet is not attached to the wall. Please see attached photos for reference. 3. All the cabinets in the kitchenette have construction dust/debri inside. 4. Just look at the photos of the toilet paper dispenser. Self explanatory. ************5. My biggest issue is your building code violations that I discovered in less than 5 minutes which concern the building contractor and the Marriott properties owner, who paid for electrical renovations. I am not one to push minor issues, but I WILL NOT let this issue go unresolved, as it affects property and most importantly the potential lives of your customers and employees! PLEASE look at the attached photos for these electrical issues and my explanations on why these can be potentially life threatening. There is an extension cord that supplies power to (1) of the two bedrooms lights, radios and other accessories. This extension cord is plugged in behind the refrigerator, running through a hole in the wall, which enters one of the suite bedrooms. The cord then is placed UNDERNEATH the carpet, coming back out of the carpet underneath the bed. This is a MAJOR fire hazard as extension cords should never be run through any walls or underneath any carpeting according to the International Building Code and South Carolina and Charleston County Building Code. I have unplugged the extension cord mentioned above, in room 409, because I do not want to die in your hotel from a fire tonight! I understand that the recipient of this email is not an electrical or safety expert so I have attached the below contact information in case the property manager has questions for review for building codes or fire hazards: -Chief Fire Marshal, Michael Julazadeh, Charleston County, SC, Phone: 843-724-3429 -Building Inspection Services Lonnie Hamilton, III Public Service Building Map4045 Bridge View Drive North Charleston, SC 29405 Phone: (843)202-6930 Fax: (843)202-6936 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org -Contact Us SC Office of State Fire Marshal 141 Monticello Trail Columbia, SC 29203 Tel: (803) 896-9800 Hours: 08:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday except State Holidays The good side: Your front desk staff resolved minor booking issues and your night manager was very polite and knowledgeable. I give them 10 out of 10 for the customer service approach.

Bad Service: 1. Tells me nothing at check-in. Found out room service only comes in every SEVEN days due to COVID reasons. No points or anything given whatsoever. They just saved cost. 2. On the 2nd day, asked the front desk for room service. She said YES, absolutely. Found out that night that no service was done. Night manager said they have to be informed before 9AM. Out of 4 nights, we got ONE service. 3. Breakfast is pathetic. Cheap muffin in a bag and 4-ounce cupped juice. You can take more than one, but that's the only choice you got. Who wants 4 muffins for breakfast? 4. Absolutely no linkage to Marriott App. No keyless key in App. Nobody answers the requests or chats via App 5. No recognition of Marriott Bonvoy status, no points, no thanks, no nothing. (I don't need a red carpet, but i'd appreciate points or "anything") Room: 1. Kitchen is unusable. Pan is as if it's from 19th century. Burned even eggs. 2. Smoke all over the room once cooking starts. Smoke extractor is as if it doesn't exists. 3. Exactly one cleaning pod given, no cooking oil. 4. Iron makes your shirt smells like a swamp. Don't use the iron, ever. Should have read the review more thoroughly. This place is a disgrace for Marriott.

The entire stay left a bad taste for booking future stays at Marriott hotels. I expected a higher standard and it was more like a motel 6. The manager, Dante, was apologetic and did give a small discount on the bill but I’m not inclined to book rooms at Marriott after the level of uncleanliness and lack of services. Dog chews were left under bed from previous guests as well as trash and debris behind TV, and black mildew on shower curtain and several lights were out in bathroom and desk lamp. There was a pot with what appeared to be bacon grease left in a pot in the oven from a previous guest (which I had to take down to front desk) . No room service came to change towels or take out trash. I had to take out my own trash and go down and get my own toilet paper, towels, room utensils, etc. The room got very cruddy without anyone coming to vacuum or sweep. The ice machine on my floor (2nd floor) was non-operational for all 4 nights. Crumbs and bits of debris collected throughout the room which worsened over the stay as we went in and out of the room and we had no way of sweeping or vacuuming. The pool was closed by DEHEC on the 2nd day of our stay - which was incredibly disappointing as this was the main reason I booked the stay at this location and unnerving as we had been in the pool on our first day and didn’t get very clear answer about why it was shut down and then reopened. One of the 2 step rails on the pools steps was loose and not attached and was also cut and had sharp edges at the base where it should’ve been attached to floor of pool (hazardous for children or unsuspecting adult). Breakfast was a joke- packaged muffins, fruit cups, yogurt, water bottles and coffee. We used our kitchenette, but the sink drained slowly and not sure the garbage disposal actually worked. Overall, not happy or satisfied with the experience. Find a different place to stay that offers better service!

What a disappointing stay we had at TownePlace Suites by Marriott in the West Ashley neighborhood of Charleston. From the moment we checked in, there were missteps made by the hotel management - all of which could have been alleviated had they communicated well and kept the place clean and maintained. Hard to believe this is a brand new property only 3 years old. 1. We were never told upon check in that there would be no cleaning whatsoever during our five night stay. We were told the next day that rooms would be cleaned every other day, and finally that there would be no cleaning. 2. The room was not properly cleaned or maintained before our arrival. Crumbs on the floor, toilet paper holder broken, second broken toilet paper holder stashed under the sink. Wall sconces not working, TV remote not working, hotel phones not working and cords pulled out of the wall. Dishwasher with food stains on front. Funky electrical wiring where switch at front door had to be up for bathroom lights at other end of the suite could work. Few towels, and stingy when we asked for more. no trash bags. Had to ask for extras of everything. 3. Not enough parking spaces when I arrived, clerk said I could have her space when she left, in the meantime I was asked to park in the Wells Fargo lot across the street. 4. Video showing hygiene features of the hotel was not followed - not a bottle of sanitizer or a wipe to be seen in the lobby. And no hygiene supplies in the room. I never saw a surface being cleaned. Masking required yet some clerks wore them, others never did. 5. Manager offered to give us another room, but we had already moved in and were working out of the room. Also offered "anything" in the store - but the store was depleted like an iron curtain country in the 60s. 6. Breakfast was coffee and a shrink wrapped muffin. Most of Charleston is open, there was no reason not to offer a full hot breakfast to guests, or more than a muffin at least. 7. Appearances - huge ceramic pots at the entrance and all around the property had weeds growing in them. Plant some flowers for goodness sake, it brightens up the place! And sofas in patio areas had missing cushions. Bathroom at pool had not been cleaned in weeks. It was a disgusting mess. Crumbs and debris in main hallways and in back stairwell. Paper towel stuffed in bannister for 3 days despite my telling management about it. Walls had scuff marks, carpet worn. No towels in the work out room, no hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes. 8. Staff and corporate indifference - Clerks were indifferent, not welcoming, and not knowledgeable about the area. My husband filled out a survey after our stay, mirroring much of what I am writing here and we never got a response. In a sum - It is a pity this hotel is so poorly maintained, dirty, and staff acts indifferent. It wouldn't take much to clean the place, update it, and train staff to be welcoming, hospitable and responsive to guest requests. A pity, as the hotel is in a great location, but there are so many other great properties to choose from, we will not be staying here again.

Our stay was a disappointment from the moment we checked in. We booked a 2br room at a PrePay , non refundable rate. We checked in and headed to our room. Upon entry, I noticed that the room and furniture was COVERED in dog hair! Disgusting!!! I called directly down to the front desk and asked if they had a room that was clean and not covered in dog hair. They did switch our room to another 2br room a floor below. Apparently there was no communication & I’m not sure our room was even clean completely!! Housekeeping walked in without knocking & the dishwasher was still running. When I went down to exchange keys, I asked for a pack & play for our 8 month old. I was told housekeeping was as on break & I could get one in later. Prior to our stay, I called the hotel directly to ensure pack & plays were available so we did not pack one . Before we left for dinner, I called back down to the front desk to ask for a pack & play. I was told at that time the hotel did not have them. Annoyed & frustrated, I had my boyfriend call down and he was also told that the hotel did not carry them. We then went to target and bought a $70 pack & play we did not need so our baby had a place to sleep. Upon return at around 9pm , I stopped at the front desk to again express my annoyance about having to go buy a pack & play. I was told that I should have never been told that there were pack & plays & that she would report it to the manager. (She doesn’t know Marriott policy) The next morning, I went to down get towels.. there were NO bath towels in the room, no dish soap, no dish towels, no dishwashing tabs, & the garbage disposal was not functioning. Only 2 burners on the stove worked. I was told maintenance was not on site & it would be fixed the next day... it was never fixed & the sink drained slow. At that time, I did speak to the manager, she did correct the pack and play issue— surprise — they had them all along & she did comp us one night but I still paid over $300 for 2 nights. No housekeeping- had to get our own towels/ wash clothes, no refill of toilet tissue, the body wash & conditioner pumps didn’t work- Oh.. and there is NO breakfast right now with Covid. Muffins & kids fruit cups. I have been to other hotels during Covid that offer prepackaged HOT breakfast. Marriott should take a hint & do the same. Pros- the area was convenient to everything.
