We made reservations for a stay online using points and partial credit card payment. We had to change the date of stay due to death in the family. I called the hotel direct 5 days before the stay date to change it to the next night, the manger said not problem.. Upon arrival they did not have the change and the reservation was for the previous nite.. W we were able to get a room at full rate. The hote lcharged us for the previous night and would not refund our money or points. We have exhauseted all customer service numbers, spoke with the hotel, and have filed complaint with our credit card company.. Our 30 year run with staying with IHG hotels has ended for us!
Stayed there...may not again

The room, this being booked in June of this year, was great. It was for a weekend stay and the purpose was to meet up with family. The person at the desk, very helpful. The person who did the check-in, the person I did the booking with, the personel at the hotel, great. The laundry, great. The location, great. The pool, great. The cleanliness, great. I intended to book again, but surprisingly when I went to do so, for July, I was able to. The reason for the title was because after I did the booking and it was confirmed, I was told that I may not be able to be at that room. Well, that is that. Have a good day.
Great, Clean Hotel...Beware Swimming Pool Patty

My Family was traveling from 3 states to spend time together for My Mom's Birthday for 5 days. We checked out of our original hotel after 1 night (due to safety concerns), we chose Candlewood as it would accommodate my family's needs. Precious and George were very helpful and professional during the entire check-in process and during our 4 day stay. We booked a total of 3 rooms (2 connecting), and another family member who lives in the area booked a room for 2 nights. The hotel was clean, the rooms were very nice and updated and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The swimming pool area had a nice shaded area (gazebo) with lounge chairs and tables and chairs with 2 grills to use to cook. Everything was perfect except for one thing SWIMMING POOL PATTY! On our second day there a few of us went to take the children to play in the pool, there was another large family there enjoying time among each other under the Gazebo area. We sat a a table and chairs around the pool area, also enjoying our time together. A few moments later Precious (desk clerk) came to our table to tell us she had to shut the pool down because she has a complaint that people are not wearing mask, the other family overheard and they too began to ask Precious why as well, as we were talking to Precious I see this lady inside the door peaking out at us, (at no point did Precious give this lady's identity or any other information as she claimed) when she noticed that I saw her she came rushing out the door yelling I LIVE HERE AND THIS IS NOT SAFE I AM CALLING THE AUTHORITIES IF YOU DON'T LEAVE. I responded by saying to her that we paid our money to be here and if she is this scared, concerned or nervous why is she living in a hotel and what concern is it to her since she wasn't outside. SWIMMING POOL PATTY continued on her rant continuously yelling and saying she's calling the authorities. The other family that was there began to get upset and yelling back at her and they sat at the table with her asking her what is the problem, because she was going on and on and they began to question why is she worried about what is going on outside and she's inside, Each family was in our own area. She continued on her rant but, once she finished her rant and acting wildly crazy she sits down outside among the same people she's so scared of and started to record as though she was being harassed. I think this lady either was under the influence or has mental issues. The authorities came because she made a report of being harassed and threatened, when they arrived they determined there was no threats or harassment and told her it was nothing they could do because everyone was following safety guidelines and told her to go to her room. She was not satisfied that the authorities did not do anything and is now trying to blame the desk clerk Precious who was more than professional with her at all times and handled the entire situation very well. For the rest of our stay my family felt HARASSED and that we were being STALKED, this lady was walking the halls with a taser and mace, meanwhile noone is paying her any attention and we're trying to enjoy the rest of our stay. Everyday when we're outside she would come outside and sit at a table by the door and record us and saying things about us as if we couldn't hear her, but we ignored her. This lady would also, go to other guests at the hotel and tell them things about us and then point to us and the guests would look at us. She walked the halls trying to find our room, there was no reason for her to be on our side of the hotel, especially since she was so worried about Covid safety and feeling threatened. We were in town to celebrate my mother's birthday and she pretty much ruined the whole vibe the rest of our stay but, we enjoyed it the best we could by ignoring her. One morning my mother and cousin went up front to get coffee, she wasn't near the coffee area, she wasn't even in the lobby but, then she pops up and shes's staring at my Mother while she's trying to make her coffee so, my Mom asked her what is she looking at, she never called her a name, this lady is adding things to her story that did not happen. My mother was very upset that this lady was constantly following us and watching our every move, there was not 1 time that she did not pop up somewhere where we were whether it was outside by the pool or in the lobby at the service desk or coffee area. SWIMMING POOL PATTY is making it seem like the hotel is a horrible place to stay when in fact it is a really great place. This lady was the aggressor, she harassed and stalked us our entire 4 days stay. If you read her review she's pretty much telling on herself but she tried to turn it around. At no time did Precious give any of her personal information (that's a bit far fetched). She acts as though this place is her private home, this is a HOTEL...many different people will come and go, she doesn't want people around so she can sit outside all types of hours and smoke her cigarettes and whatever else. I really hope Precious does not get in trouble she was a very nice young lady. I have never experienced anything like this. My review is based on my family's experience and despite this situation with SWIMMING POOL PATTY, I WILL DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN, because one bad apple doesn't spoil the bunch.
Police called and front desk sent them away and I was threatened and harassed for two days

I have stayed at this hotel for a long time. The manager Janet, George, and Evelyn have great customer service. The hotel is clean and the rest of the staff is very friendly.I I would have definitely recommended this hotel to my company and other. I loved staying here. Unfortunately, I had a terrifying experience with their new attendant, Precious. I made several complaints to her about a guest who had bought thirty plus people to occupy the pool area.None of these people had mask on. On my third request she went out and told people that they had to leave because I made a complaint. Since she had a already revealed my identity I told them Yes I made the complaint because we cannot have covid parties. I left. When I came back, Precious told me they were leaving so I went outside got a table by myself away from the pool area to smoke and i called my sister on the phone. While I was on the phone the pool party started calling me whore and saying I was going to get my ass beat. Later they started chanting you another Karen. Because I would not respond to them they charged my table and say ok we will seat with you. They got in my face.I was scared because I had taken off my mask and five or six people were in my face. I ran inside and ask the attendant, Precious to call the police. She refused even though one of the pool party people had followed me inside and was yelling in my face.I called the police. The police came and the attendant lied and said I was the aggressor and everyone had on a mask. She told the police they could stay. For the rest of the night the party guest harrased me. I had to go live on facebook so they would not hurt me while I smoked my cigarette. They called me "ugly" they yelled out my age and how long I stayed at the hotel. They called me "motherf##!!$ why you scared of covid when you dying of cancer". One of the men kept coming over to fence and yelling at me.All this was live of facebook. I later learned the attendant, Precious had given the pool party my information. The next day I walked down the hall and guest rm 102 yelled "here she goes, patrolling the hallway"....they were part of yesterday's pool party group. When I got near the coffee area one person yelled "her comes the heifer" another yelled "what you looking at" a different part of the same group. So I took the stairs to avoid them only to run in to more of their group where one person yelled I feel like I am being stalked". So its been a hard two days. I had to leave work early because I couldn't stop crying. I am thankful that George offered me another room for my safety. This was a very scary experience
Change of owners not a good one.

I would rate this as minus 0 if I could. We have been traveling from Phoenix to Charlotte area for my wife's job. Drove over 2000 miles and stayed all but one night in Candlewood Suites. Arrived early evening. George was working the front desk. (side note, if anything, you should make George a manager and immulate his professionalism and demeanor) Great check in. We get to the room. Musty smelling but tired enough we just kicked back and crashed. Wife had to work early the next morning. I did a walk around of the hotel. VERY DATED!!! Here's my biggest gripe. And.. where I say, I traveled for 30 years with my job internationally. I've stayed in dives and high end hotels. I rate the look of the hotel and hotel personnel and blame managers for bad. This place was BAD!!!!! Grass and weeds outside were TALL!! There were weeds around the hotel that were 3 - 4 feet high. Dog walk area.. the grass was so high that I saw one little dog almost disappear. We had grand daddy long legs in our closet. Carpet in the hall way looked and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. I walked out one night and walked in to a swimming pool which was the foyer floor heading towards the door to the outside pool. They had either mopped the floor or one of the washers ran over. Whatever the case, the water in some areas was almost 1/4 deep. Someone had 'tried' to mop it up but just put a 'danger' sign down and walked away. It took almost all night to dry. Yes, I was up mid morning (2:30am) due to some noise outside so I checked my car. Annnnnnd, we were there when the 'wearing face masks' rule took place again. VERY FEW of your staff had them on. NO guests were asked to wear masks when I was around them and close to staff. (yes, I had mine on) I know that George had mentioned that this was a different franchise with IHG. I didn't know there could be a difference in Candlewoods. When we left, I was lucky enought to get George again on check out. Again, nicest employee. COME ON MANAGEMENT!!! Care about your hotel! This is an IHG brand. Make it so!! Ps. George! Maybe you should move to where your talents aren't wasted on bad owners or management!
