A Relaxing Stay
A very new and modern take for a Springhill Suite. Liked the spacious, open lobby & interactive info monitor. Front desk staff were very friendly & accommodating. Immediately replenished items needed in the bathroom & a small leak from bottom of shower door. This location had a separate commode & sink from the shower & vanity which not all springhill Suites do. This is a nice touch. Bed & pillows were very comfortable. HVAC unit needs a deflector so it doesnt blow directly on person sleeping next to window. Breakfast was hot, fresh & plentiful each morning, with a decent variety. Coffee was always fresh throughout the day & hot water always filled. The 2 ladies working the breakfast area were friendly, polite & insured we enjoyed our meal. Easy in/out on road to/from hotel with some common sense. Most importantly, hotel was quiet.
Not Sure About This Place
Wow. Definitely not what we were expecting. Pros: Brand new. Within walking distance of Carowinds. Large rooms. Very clean. Toilet & sink in completely separate room from shower and large sink. Plenty of seating for breakfast. Complimentary breakfast had quite a bit to choose from. The lady attending to the breakfast area kept everything full and clean (she did a great job considering the amount of people eating). Cons: Poor signage to find entrance to hotel. If you miss the tiny sign, you have to go thru Carowinds parking lot toll entrance to turn around. It will be hard, if not impossible, to leave hotel when crowds are lined up to get thru parking toll entrance and if you were just arriving at hotel you would have to wait in that same line until you got close enough to the hotel turn in lane. You can't drive around the hotel to park (again poor signage). Front desk people were friendly but not very knowledgeable. Took a shower about 11am and water never got hot - not even warm. Shower head way to high, couldn't reach to adjust. Interstate noise all night. Air from heater blows right on you (even heat was cold). Elevator isn't centrally located. Walk to Carowinds is longer than expected. Long walk for elderly or little ones, especially when cold or very hot out. A small shuttle would be great since we were paying such a higher price with a 2-night minimum to stay there.
It Will Become THE Place to Stay When Visiting Carowinds
Brand new hotel so everything is bright and shiny. Walking distance to Carowinds which will make it a perfect place for a mid-day break while visiting the park. There was a little bit of construction noise during the afternoon but the room was quiet at night. A bit disappointed in the lack of a waffle maker in the breakfast area, but otherwise, it was okay. Staff was super. Will certainly consider staying here again in the future.
Big rooms, brand new
Stayed in a 2 queen suite on Dec 7th after a visit to Winterfest. It was only about $20 more than staying across the street, and figured I would test it out before the rates go up in summer. Check in was a breeze, and the staff was super nice. We were allowed to check in around 1:00 pm when we arrived into town. Room was huge! There’s a powder room with sink, along with another bathroom that had tub/shower combo and a long vanity. The tub had a Knick in it, which I found odd since it had only been opened for a couple weeks. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash in a dispenser on the shower wall. Huge wak-in closet! Mini fridge was cold. HVAC was odd. I could never get the temp cold enough even though it was 40 degrees outside. We were comfortable, but I had it set to “cool” and 67 degrees. Breakfast was okay, but they ran out of food about 30 mins before end time. I think they are still working out kinks. We will stay again. I actually booked another stay for Dec 21st, in a king suite. Stay was the same, but breakfast was better. Bathroom only had shower though and no tub. Shower head is very high! I had to stand on my cooler to adjust it. No huge closet, but it’s big enough.
Nice and new but needs better training
Nothing wrong with the appearance as it is brand new, but the front desk was clueless about the main reason they are open and that is Carowinds. If you have a question about the park or if it is worth walking from the hotel then they haven't a clue. The answer is no, it is a good walk and only worth it if the parking lot is full or you want to avoid paying for parking. If you own a gold or platinum pass for the park you might as well drive into the lot. The sign marking the hotel is too small and you are most likely going to drive by it and have to turn around as the gate of the park will be ahead. The poor lady trying to keep the breakfast area stocked was overwhelmed and couldn't bring food fast enough. It was a cluster and when the summer hits and the hotel is full then it will truly be a mess. Also the breakfast area closes early, 9 on weekdays and 9:30 on weekends so keep that in mind. May stay here again but the price was more than the competition a few miles away.
