Dinsmore Inn-A Gem
First truly great experience. Recent visit in February, 2021 for 2 nights. I am in sales and spend 95% of my travel at Hilton properties. My experiences with inns, B&Bs and Vrbo has all been ok to terrible. This was a delightful treat. The breakfast food was fabulous, the room felt historic but warm and inviting. Veda; the innkeeper, made us feel like old friends coming for a visit. We will do this again. The only negative was lots of traffic because you are on Main Street but that is also a positive because we walked to dinner on one of the nights. Thanks Veda for a wonderful break from COVID and being in one place!
R.D. & S. D. Love old Architecture.
If you like Sothern Style and Comfort just relax and enjoy your stay. The staff made many accommodations to make our stay very nice. We love the location, every stop that we wanted to make was within walking distance. We will return. Thanks So very much.
An Almost Perfect Stay
Stayed here in early June 2020 for one night- the first guest in this room since the pandemic began. I originally booked the Monroe room, which is located in the attached townhouse, but was given a complimentary upgrade on arrival to a room in the main house, the Monticello Room. I realize that this never HAS to happen and feel extremely grateful for this upgraded service. Loved: VEDA! The innkeeper was so friendly and responsive. I really appreciate the quick communication via text message and flexibility with check-in and check-out time; The balcony with table and chairs, overlooking bustling West Main St.; Huge, king size bed with crisp & clean linens; Spacious bathroom with soaking tub, standing shower, and plush bathrobes; Delicious-smelling Molton Brown bath amenities; Included breakfast at Farm Bell Kitchen (and the unlimited refills of great coffee + coffee to go); Free parking in secure Marriott deck; Location: easy to walk to excellent restaurants on West Main- check out Oakhart Social and Little Star! Could improve: I sent an email a week ago to the Dinsmore address regarding these concerns but received no reply, so unfortunately, have resorted to sharing them here. The Inn describes high-speed wireless internet as an included feature, but I had trouble staying connected on my laptop, even when trying both networks. My phone would not even attempt to connect. Normally this would not be a problem, and may be a feature I even seek out- an opportunity to disconnect in a historic house, how lovely! But, this particular night I came with the intentions of cuddling up in that giant king size bed to write progress reports (teacher here) and left having not completed a single one. Additionally, the shower stall had serious drainage issues. I had to turn off the water flow 3 times during the shower to allow it to drain and not overflow onto the bathroom floor. I am hoping these two issues are just an affect of irregular service due to the pandemic, and will be resolved in time for a busier summer travel season. Thanks again to the Dinsmore Boutique Inn for a unique stay, minus two minor hiccups. I hope to sit on that sunshine soaked patio sometime in the future!
Outstanding hospitality
Beautiful, historic house situated at the edge of UVA campus made even more special by innkeeper Veda. Pre-arrival text message made check-in super fast and easy. Garage parking (w/in-out) also included in rate, as was super tasty breakfast/brunch with good service. Stayed in Jefferson Suite - very nicely appointed with comfortable bed and thoughtful touches throughout. Will definitely stay here on future visits and highly recommend to others.
Charming Inn!
Perfect historic Inn on Main St. Fantastic location, close to everything. Excellent choice of rooms. Room was clean and well appointed where old meets new. Easy process and off street parking. Farm Bell Kitchen is attached and offers great new southern fare. Our Sunday Brunch was the perfect way to end our staycation getaway.
