Cozy, Comfortable Charming Hotel Next to UVA! Loved it!

A hidden gem right next to University of Virginia. I really enjoyed my recent stay at Oakhurst Inn. The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly. It is a great option when visiting Charlottesville, especially when you want to be close to UVA.

Delightfully charming hotel that verges on fancy bed-and-breakfast style rooms. This place is _very_ close to UVA with all the downtown fun a short drive beyond. There's a cute little cafe within walking distance, too. Spacious, well-furnished rooms and comfy beds. The main building has a great bar and the pool isn't large, but enough for some fun splashing around.

We enjoyed our stay here - the room was beautifully appointed, with a nice view of the pool. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the inn is within walking distance of the university. Tucked away on a cut-de-sac with some other houses, it is a very nice retreat right in the middle of town!

Overpriced and Underwhelming

Unfortunately this was a disappointing stay. The room was shabby and needs updating. We requested housecleaning which never happened and when we called we were told the room could be "refreshed but not fully serviced." From what we could tell, someone came and only dropped off clean towels...dirty coffee cups were left and no new coffee provided as discussed. Front desk was hard to reach by phone so we had to go over the that building in person more than once. Valets were a bright spot. Didn't feel worth it for the nightly rate.

Nice location, dog friendly

We chose Oakhurst Inn based on reviews for our first trip to Charlottesville, VA. Very convenient to college and town. Advertised as dog friendly, which it was. Our dog friendly room walked right out to a little patio, which was nice. However, the hotel did not provide any dog bowls, beds, treats, or anything else you might expect for a hotel that advertises itself as dog friendly, which was slightly disappointing, especially as you pay a hefty fee to have your dog there. Also, there's a nice little lounge, but when we were there it was empty, and we had to hand around to get the attention of a staff person. Then, ordering one gin and tonic as a guest, I would have loved to have it be complimentary, but of course they charged for it. Just stayed at a small boutique hotel in Prague that treated guests like guests, and offered wine or beer when ever you came into the lobby. More hotels should adopt this . Also, there was one young woman who was there at check in at her computer, didn't make eye contact, was there later that night and also made no eye contact with guests even though she sat at a tiny desk in the lobby. Kind of weird. The young man parking cars was super friendly.
